Health of fish stocks contradict climate alarmists’ predictions

The oceans are still very much a mystery to humankind, with a vast majority of it yet to be explored.

Early in my career, I wanted to make an in-depth study of how climate affected marine life. After all, many media reports claimed that “oceans will become empty by 2048.”

So, as a graduate research assistant, I explored the adaptability of marine fish and invertebrates to fluctuations in ocean temperatures. I found that both are highly adaptable to changes in the water around them.

That is the way they are made.

Now, evidence emerging from scientific studies shows that marine life may be benefiting from the relative warmth of modern temperatures.

Contrary to the hyperbole of climate reporters, there has been no alarming increase in global sea-surface temperatures. Even if temperatures increase substantially, fish are free to migrate to cooler waters and do, as documented by scientific studies.

Fish also have natural adaptive mechanisms. Since their initial emergence in Earth’s waters, fish have developed genetically in ways that allow them not only to survive but to thrive in a variety of environments. In addition to the generational genetic adaptability, fish also display short-term phenotypic plasticity which allows them to adapt to temperatures and other physical factors. When combined, these mechanisms act as significant protection against the ill-effects of the physical environment.

Despite this, it is not uncommon to see news of fisheries crashing under the weight of a climate crisis.

However, real-world data contradict such negative reports, indicating instead that global fish catches will improve in the coming decades.

2016 scientific study “assembled the largest-of-its-kind database and coupled it to state-of-the-art bioeconomic models for more than 4,500 fisheries around the world.” The study found that global fisheries will profit from an increase in marine species. The degree of this commercial success will depend on a range of policy measures, including ones that enable increased catches for individuals and communities.

In 2020, there was a record 214 million tonnes of production from both wild catches and aquaculture. The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022 report says that this production is expected to grow 14 percent by 2030. Fish are expected to become more affordable and accessible, with prices decreasing between 2024-2029, according to two international bodies: the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that published the data in Agricultural Outlook.

As of 2017, around 65% of fish stocks were biologically sustainable. An index of population health is maximum sustainable yield (MSY), which is the point at which the stock can sustain itself without limits on fishing. The MSY calculation involves collaborative information gathering by marine biologists and fishers.

The 2022 report states that the number of catches from biologically sustainable stocks has been on the rise! This signals that catches can be increased without depleting the stock to levels that neither the species nor continued fishing is at risk. While some concerns remain for a few species, studies show that in regions where we have high-quality population data, the majority of fish stocks are either stable or improving.

In short, any threat to future catches is not “empty” seas but rather the effect of activities such as illegal fishing and overfishing. Fish as an important protein source is likely to remain available in large quantities. Reality contradicts the fallacious climate crisis that dominates popular media and politics.

Revealed: Labour’s Rochdale by-election candidate has helped raise millions for extremist mosque

Azhar Ali,. screen grab youtube

Labour’s Rochdale by-election candidate, Azhar Ali, is a trustee of a mosque where preachers have voiced support for terrorists and attacked Zionism as the result of “totalitarian brainwashing”, the JC can reveal.

The mosque, which has received millions of pounds in cash fundraised by Ali, last month hosted preacher Asrar Rashid, who told worshippers that Hamas and its allies would “boot out” the Jews from all Israel and urged them to support the Houthis as part of the “axis of resistance”.

Rashid also attacked the government’s proscription of Hizb ut-Tahrir as a terrorist organisation, adding that Sir Keir Starmer was “just as draconian as the Tories”.

In the past ten months, the Sultania mosque in Brierfield – said to be the biggest in Lancashire – has hosted other speakers who have urged parents to “de-programme” their children if they were taught about LGBT issues at school, attacked “liberalism, modernism and feminism”, and claimed modern education amounts to a form of “totalitarian brainwashing” that causes some to think that “Zionism is a valid philosophy”.

The party’s selection of Ali to fight the 29 February election following the death of the sitting Labour MP Tony Lloyd raises fresh questions about Starmer’s commitment to fighting extremism in the party.

Two Labour MPs, Zarah Sultana and Apsana Begum, delivered speeches at last weekend’s anti-Israel march where protesters called for an intifada and expressed support for the Houthis. MP Kate Osamor has had the Labour whip withdrawn after comparing the “genocide” in Gaza to the Holocaust on Holocaust Memorial Day.

Ali is facing a determined challenge from George Galloway, the former Respect party leader, whose campaign is focused on attacking Labour’s support for Israel in the current Gaza war.

Ali, the Labour group leader on Lancashire County Council, confirmed via his spokesman that he has been a trustee of the mosque for many years, and helped raise millions of pounds to rebuild it.

As recently as February last year, Ali was described in a social media post by the mosque that included his phone number as one of its two “service coordinators” who could advise on membership. In the past he has happily publicised his connection to the mosque, which is in his home town.

“Proud as a Trustee to show Lord and Lady Shuttleworth around the £4 million Sultania mosque in Brierfield this lunchtime,” he tweeted in February 2015. Later, in August 2017, he led a reception committee that welcomed then-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn at the mosque.

However, on Wednesday his spokesman told the JC that Ali plays “no part” in its management and does not support extremist views. Nevertheless, it is understood that he has no plans to resign as a trustee.

In his inflammatory sermon, Rashid said that Israel was a “white, settler colonial entity” which wrongly deemed Palestine to be its land. He compared the Jewish state to Algeria when it was a French colony, saying: “France occupied Algeria for over 150 years, but today Algeria is independent. The settler colonial entity should not think now that Palestine belongs to it, because in the same the way Algeria booted out their settler colonial entity, the resistance will boot out the settler colonial entity that we have in Palestine.”

He added that his audience should “expect imminent victory”, claiming that the Israelis were cowards and the letters IDF stood for “Israeli Diaper Force”. Rashid said: “They call themselves a defence force, but many times when their fighters have been killed, they have been found wearing Pampers.” But they were, he added, “guilty of genocide”.

He repeatedly used the term “axis of resistance”, a phrase coined by Iran to describe its terrorist proxies Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis. He went on to encourage support for the Yemeni terror group because they fighting “the Zionists”.

As for the proscription of the jihadist group Hizb ut-Tahrir, he said it showed Muslims “have been passive for too long”, and needed a “battle plan”.

Ali has never made any secret of his support for the Palestinian cause. He accused Israel of “genocide” during its conflict with Hamas in 2014, and during the 2021 war spoke on a platform with speakers who called for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS).

In October, he was one of 38 Labour councillors in Lancashire who signed a letter to Starmer saying comments the Labour leader had made about the war had provoked “fury” and “outrage”.

Starmer had said in a radio interview that Israel had the right to cut off power and water to Gaza. Although he later clarified this by stating he had been discussing Israel’s broader right to self-defence, the letter Ali signed said this “fell short of the community’s expectations”.

Afterwards Ali told local reporters that he wanted Starmer to oppose the British government’s support for Israel and to demand an immediate ceasefire.

Ali’s spokesman told the JC: “He is a trustee of at Sultania Mosque, but has no part of the day to day management committee, nor does he support the views from extremist preachers.”

“Azhar Ali was a senior government adviser on national security issues after the 7/7 bombing and has worked closely with interfaith organisation, including the Jewish Board of Deputies to root out antisemitism in communities.”

“Azhar’s politics is about uniting communities rather creating division, that is what he will do in Rochdale.”

The JC spoke to the mosque administrator, who said he did not wish to make any comment on Rashid’s sermon or those given earlier by others.

UK: National Health Service shuts down LGBT Rainbow Badge rating scheme over ‘lack of funding’

NHS Rainbow BadgeNHS

The NHS has ended an LGBT diversity programme after the charity leading it claimed there was a “lack of funding”.

Hospitals of the NHS Rainbow Badge scheme were rated either gold, silver or bronze after being assessed on how they treat LGBT patients.

The scheme began in 2018 as part of a smaller programme that gave out rainbow badges to staff in a bid to be more inclusive before expanding to the rating system in 2021.

Matt Hancock was a supporter of the scheme when it began and wore a rainbow badge throughout the pandemic while he was Health Secretary to Boris Johnson.

LGBT Foundation, which leads the scheme, said in a statement yesterday that a lack of funding was to blame for the programme’s end.

Over the course of the programme, the NHS Rainbow Badge was delivered by a number of LGBT charities including Stonewall and has worked with 77 trusts across England.

However, Stonewall said that its involvement in the scheme “came to a natural end” last year.

The LGBT Foundation also said that while “the focus outside of the project has been on diversity initiatives and the use of language”, the programme had contributed to the NHS’ “overall success, suitability, and cost-effectiveness”.

The NHS Rainbow Badge scheme’s end comes as councils have been urged to axe diversity programmes and funnel money towards frontline social care.

It also comes after it was discovered that NHS bosses were splurging £40million a year on “woke diversity non-jobs” that could have been used to pay for 1,500 more nurses, according to the Daily Express.

Professor Karol Sikora, an ex-World Health Organisation cancer chief, said: “Every single penny should be put directly into the pockets of frontline staff.

“More medical professionals should be standing up to this lunacy, even if it results in some unpleasant insults.”

Benjamin Elks of the TaxPayers’ Alliance echoed Sikora’s comments, adding: “Taxpayers will be furious at the health service blowing millions on woke non-jobs.

“While waiting lists spiral, poverty-pleading trusts should be directing all available resources to frontline care.

“It’s time for the health service to prioritise patients over political correctness.”

Figures attained by The Daily Express via Freedom of Information requests show that each NHS trust surveyed employs three Equality, Diversity and Inclusion personnel on annual salaries of £46,847.67.

REPORT: Annalena Baerbock’s Grandfather Was a Hardcore Nazi Fighter – The ‘Green’ German Foreign Minister Is a Radical Supporter of Ukraine

sreenshot X

Almost 80 years after the Nazis surrendered, bringing WW2 to an end, the totalitarian specter of Adolf Hitler and his genocidal war criminals still haunts Germany.

So much so, that the German political establishment is always expressing its worries about extremists – which can be a good thing, but also became an overused smear to taint any right wing or populist movement, whether or not these have actual extremist tendencies.

But when confronted with the real-life, contemporary Nazis in Ukraine, German leaders don’t seem to mind or even acknowledge their existence, and in fact extend them their full, continuous, unambiguous support.

And if we take a close look at the three-party coalition led by Olaf Scholz, we see that the most enthusiastic backers of the Kiev Nazis are the leftist ‘green’ politicians, such as Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

Back in January, Baerbock and Chancellor Scholz attended a Potsdam rally against the surging AfD party.

“Baerbock told Germany’s dpa press agency that she and other locals were taking a ‘stand for democracy and against old and new fascism’.”

But is she really against fascism and nazism?

German paper BILD now comes with a damaging report, based on leaked documents, stating that Baerbock’s grandfather was ‘an unconditional National Socialist’ who had read ‘Mein Kampf’ and fully stood with the Nazi regime.

The Parisian Participatory Dictatorship

Nosta Lgia

The socialist mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, recently organised a ‘citizens’ vote’ (votation citoyenne) to ask Parisians about the appropriateness of a particularly punishing parking fee for SUVs, which she considers too bulky and too polluting. The vote in favour of a specific tax won the day, but in a highly questionable ballot and with an ideology emblematic of the disastrous way in which Hidalgo is managing France’s capital city.

SUVs, or sport utility vehicles, are large motor vehicles with four-wheel drive and off-road capability. Initially designed as leisure vehicles, they have become increasingly popular in recent years, including in cities where the road infrastructure (narrow streets, car parks) is not necessarily suited to their size. They get bad press because they are considered too bulky and too polluting—some towns are even considering banning them. In Paris, Mayor Anne Hidalgo has come up with the plan to subject them to a punitive parking fee—significantly higher than that for ordinary vehicles. But before introducing these regulations, she wanted to put the measure to the people of Paris for their approval.

An enthusiast of ‘participatory democracy,’ Anne Hidalgo has been holding an increasing number of impromptu votes on specific issues relating to the organisation of urban life since she took office as mayor of Paris. The stated aim is to give Parisians a say, but the methods used are highly questionable. While the proliferation of ‘participatory’ opportunities has not aroused the enthusiasm of Parisians, who have become accustomed to shunning these untimely elections, it has triggered hilarity in the Swiss, who know a thing or two about direct democracy.

Nosta Lgia

Turnout is generally extremely low. It’s easy to see why voters don’t go to the polls for local issues: Parisians know full well that these ‘votes’ are above all communication operations, and that the decision has generally already been taken by the City Hall teams, whatever the result of the vote. That was the case with the vote held a few months ago on banning free-floating e-scooters. Anne Hidalgo made no secret of her intention to ban them and would have found a way to legislate against them regardless of the vote, which, in this case, went her way. On the other hand, Parisians overwhelmingly rejected the City Council’s plan to regulate the access to the ring road—the motorway that encircles the city of Paris—during the Olympic Games. Faced with this rejection at the ballot box, Anne Hidalgo’s deputy for urban planning, Emmanuel Grégoire, explained that the vote was merely a “consultation” and not a “referendum”—in short, that the City Council would continue to do as it pleased in this area.

The vote on parking charges for SUVs proved to be a rather emblematic example of the participatory dictatorship that Anne Hidalgo indulges in with such relish. The ballot was scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 4th in Paris polling stations and was announced by an aggressive poster campaign in the streets of the capital. On the day of the vote, according to a large number of corroborating anecdotes that appeared on social media, everything possible was done to make it difficult to vote in the arrondissements most likely to reject the measure—the districts in the west of Paris, where people traditionally vote on the Right and where SUV users are numerous. Closed offices, voters being sent from one office to another, missing ballot papers—everything was done to discourage even the most motivated voters. The organisational fiasco was total, and probably deliberate.

Nosta Lgia

The ballots were worded in such a way that they already took a position against the infamous SUVs—without ever naming them and regardless of the voter’s choice, using a technique with which all dictatorships are familiar. The two ballot papers, one for and one against, stated that the aim was in any case to legislate on parking for “heavy, cumbersome, polluting private cars.” In other words, the art and manner of making voters feel guilty at the moment of making their choice.

The final result of the vote was 54.55% in favour of tripling the parking charge for SUVs in central Paris. SUVs will now have the distinct pleasure of paying €225 for 6 hours of parking if they get the urge to wander around Paris. Residents should not normally be subject to this grotesque rate—provided they park their car close to home.

A victory for Anne Hidalgo, who sees it as “a form of resistance.” A victory, to be sure, but one that should be put into perspective since the turnout was 5.68%, or 78,000 voters out of 1.3 million—which is, all things considered, a much better result than the 2.17% obtained by Anne Hidalgo from Paris voters in the presidential election. Given the irregularities in the election, the final result is also open to question: for example, the total number of votes cast in the 14th arrondissement was 108%.

The various opposition groups at Paris City Hall are denouncing this vote as a travesty of democracy—and a €400,000 money-generator with a 94% abstention rate at a time when the city’s debt is already running into billions.

“The new rates will penalise non-Parisians without improving the quality of life in Paris,” criticised Senator Catherine Dumas, a right-wing councillor for the 17th arrondissement of Paris.

The Les Ecologistes group (which does not belong to the municipal majority) denounced “a misleading vote” and a “Soviet pricing system.” While in favour of regulating the circulation of SUVs, they criticise the lack of tariff modulation and the disregard for family cars (which carry two or more children), which will be heavily taxed as a result, since they will be treated as SUVs.

Despite the absolute nonsense of the measure supposedly adopted at the ballot box on Sunday, February 4th, and the democratic farce that unfolded, it would unfortunately appear that Paris is leading the way. In Vienna, Austria, the Greens said that they too are ready to introduce a special parking charge. As the song goes, Gott erhalte! God save … Vienna!

VIDEO: ‘That Christianity Is a Lame Joke’: Canterbury Cathedral Hosts Silent Disco Amid Protests

Wikimedia Commons , Rafa Esteve, CC-BY-SA-4.0

Some called it the “Rave at the Nave,” but others use terms like “sacrilege” to describe two ’90s-themed silent discos held at one of the United Kingdom’s oldest cathedrals.

The beautiful interior of Canterbury Cathedral looked more like a vintage ’90s-era nightclub than a revered place of worship on Thursday night. Dozens of revelers jumped up and down with glow sticks while listening to beats on their headphones.

Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest and most revered houses of worship in all of Christianity. Founded in 597 CE, the church is the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the senior bishop of the Church of England and principal leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Given the cathedral’s historic and modern place of importance, The Dean of Canterbury, the Very Reverend Dr. David Monteith, assured the public that the disco was “categorically not a ‘rave in the nave,’” and would be “appropriate to and respectful of the cathedral.”

These assurances did not reassure the faithful protesting outside the cathedral on Thursday or the others who signed a petition to stop the event.

According to the petition, which as of Friday had garnered 1,779 signatures, the disco will have the opposite effect of bringing young people to the church.

“It will not bring young people closer to Christ, rather it will send the message that Christ and His Church, and all the truth, beauty and goodness it has to offer, are unimportant,” the petition read. “That entertainment deserves our attention more than God. That Christians do not take their faith or their holy places seriously.

“That Christianity is a lame joke.”

The disco also brought a rebuke from Father Calvin Robinson, a priest and outspoken critic of the Church of England’s leftward lunge.

Appeals to the history and sanctity of the cathedral did not sway church leadership, who insisted that the revelers be allowed to discover Canterbury “on their own terms.”

“Whether people choose to come to Canterbury Cathedral primarily as worshippers, sightseers, or attendees at our events … it’s always joyous to see them discover this incredible place anew and on their own terms,” Monteith added.

Canterbury Cathedral will host the second of the two silent discos on Friday night.

Ukrainian family raked in €40,000 in German state benefits despite returning home for almost a year

A family of Ukrainian refugees has siphoned off approximately €40,000 in German welfare benefits despite returning to their homeland without notifying the German authorities.

A mother and her son arrived in Germany in the spring of 2022, shortly after the Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine, and applied to receive Bürgergeld — the German citizens’ allowance.

The pair initially stayed with a host family in Schleswig-Holstein before a subsidized apartment was made available, and a taxpayer-funded daycare place was approved for the son.

Shortly after their arrival, the husband also fled Ukraine and stayed at the apartment in Germany and the couple were soon expecting their second child.

After the child’s birth, the family of four was receiving welfare benefits to the tune of €3,200 per month, comprising Bürgergeld, discounted rent, and heating subsidies.

Focus Online reported that the family decided to return to western Ukraine at the beginning of 2023 where they stayed for almost a year before heading back to Germany toward the end of the year to avoid the bitter Ukrainian winter.

During their almost year-long absence, the family failed to notify the German authorities they had left the country and had been in receipt of €40,000 in taxpayer-funded state benefits.

The discrepancy was noticed by the Ukrainian family’s host in Germany whom they contacted upon their return for assistance with securing a school place for their 6-year-old son, and the host mother who said she felt “explored” by the family alerted the authorities.

The local job center has now reportedly launched an investigation into the matter and is exploring possible charges of fraud.

The case highlighted significant shortcomings in the benefits system when it comes to Ukrainian refugees as there is no provision currently to ensure that families in receipt of payments are still residing in Germany.

The host mother told German media that it is “extremely difficult” to keep tabs on the location of Ukrainian nationals and expressed her concern that this was not an isolated case.

There are reports that guidelines are circulating among Ukrainian refugees on how to evade the German authorities and return home whilst remaining in receipt of financial handouts.

A spokesperson for the Federal Employment Agency admitted that the system is vulnerable to exploitation, stating that Ukrainians are required to periodically attend job centers in Germany but that “the job centers decide on the specific interval at their own discretion,” meaning that poor management could result in Ukrainians signing up for payments and not being required to show proof they are still living in the country for months.

Furthermore, they could simply head back to Germany for their interview and then return to their homeland.

Other pitfalls in the welfare system relate to income and savings declarations. Germans are required to show proof of savings and income in order to be eligible for benefits, but while proof is asked for from Ukrainian nationals, this cannot be corroborated.

A check is “not actually possible,” explained Steffi Ebert, head of the Schmalkalden-Meiningen job center in Thuringia.

Approximately 700,000 Ukrainian refugees are currently receiving welfare benefits in Germany, though it is unclear how many actually remain in the country.

German Catholic seminary rector says he allows openly homosexual men to enter, become priests

The rector of the Catholic seminary in Munich has said that he allows openly homosexual men to enter the seminary and be consecrated as priests, contrary to the teaching of the Universal Church.

When asked in an interview by the local news outlet Münchner Kirchenzeitung how he deals with candidates who are openly homosexual, Fr. Wolfgang Lehner said, “It is not a question of only preparing ideal candidates for the ideal priestly ministry.”

“Sexuality is always a part of the personality, an aspect of it,” he stated.

“We judge and accompany people as a whole person. That’s why I find it difficult to say: ‘No, someone is not at all suitable because they are homosexual’ or ‘someone is suitable because they are homosexual.’ When someone comes to me, introduces themselves, and says: ‘By the way, I’m homosexual,’ I first try to assess this in the context of the applicant’s overall profile.”

“How does he present himself, how does he show himself? If we have decided to take him [into the seminary], then we look at how present, how topical this issue is.”

“But if I notice that I’m looking at a coherent personality who can put things into perspective, someone who has healthy relationships with men and women, who doesn’t have to constantly address their sexual orientation, then I wouldn’t say a priori that they can’t be consecrated, because this is about a larger complexity,” Lehner concluded.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police Say They “Don’t Know” Whether Sexual Assault Suspect Is Male Or Female Despite Having Semen Evidence

The Metro Vancouver Transit Police say they “don’t know” if the primary suspect in a skytrain sexual assault is male or female despite having recovered semen during the investigation.

On February 8, the Transit Police issued a press release pleading for help to identify the suspect. While photos and videos showed what appeared to be a male with long hair, some basic information on the suspect was curiously omitted from the release. No pronouns were used, and no information on the suspect’s sex was included.

In a recorded phone call with journalist Amy Hamm, Constable Amanda Steed said the information had been intentionally left out because the Transit Police were unsure of how to refer to the suspect.

“We’ve left it out for a reason; it’s because we don’t know. The video evidence shows someone who… would appear female, who is female presenting, but the physical evidence is that of a genetic male,” Steed said. She later confirmed in an email to Reduxx that the physical evidence is in fact the suspect’s semen.

Despite claiming that the Transit Police “didn’t know” what the sex of the suspect was, Steed admitted that they “believe” he has a penis.

“The suspect we believe does have a penis,” said Steed, when asked if the victim was raped. “But the video shows someone who appears to be female presenting, so that’s why we left the gender out. Because we weren’t really sure how this person identifies—we didn’t want to get it wrong.”

According to the press release, the incident took place in August of 2023 in the early hours of the morning. A woman entered Surrey Central SkyTrain Station and was making her way up to the platform, but as she stepped onto the escalator, the suspect followed closely behind her. While they were on the escalator, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim.

The suspect is described as 30 – 40 years of age, 5’10’ – 6’ tall, with a dark complexion and slender build. He was seen wearing a wig with long, dark wavy hair, a light colored t-shirt, black biker shorts, light colored running shoes.

Constable Steed said she was unable to disclose any additional information.

“The investigation’s quite complicated and we’ve omitted some of the evidence to preserve the integrity of the investigation when it does go to court; so that’s why we’ve withheld that information,” she said.

According to their website, The Metro Vancouver Transit Police is “the only dedicated police service in Canada focused on reducing crime and disorderly behavior in and around the public transportation system.” They also describe one of their four operational priorities as “reducing sexual offences.” In 2018, the police force launched an “Anti Sex Offence Campaign,” which consisted of a poster campaign and a number for victims or witnesses to text or call the transit police.
