An angry man (31) stabbed his ex (27) in a park – she had her baby in her arms!

Terrible crime in Lünen ( North-Rhine Westphalia). The woman survived with severe injuries, her son (a few months old) remained unharmed. Several witnesses, including a schoolgirl (13), suffered shock. The knifeman is on the run, wanted by the police.

According to the police, the woman from Afghanistan was walking with the infant in the Lippe meadows at about 2.55 p.m. when she happened to meet the father (also Afghan) in a meadow. The two had separated.

An argument ensued, suddenly he pulled out a knife and stabbed her four times.

Police spokesman Gunnar Wortmann: “When she tried to protect her child, she fell to the ground. The man stabbed her again and then fled in an unknown direction.”

A witness called the emergency services. The woman (a woman of several children) was taken to hospital by ambulance, and emergency surgery was performed to treat her wounds. Fortunately, the doctors were able to rule out any danger to her life, it was said.

The criminal lives in Nottuln (Münsterland). The manhunt for the man, who is known to the police, is ongoing. The police consider the attack as dangerous bodily harm. The couple has several children, the infant is also a child of both.

India: Muslim mob assaults a burqa-clad woman and a Hindu man travelling with her, video goes viral

Muslim woman and her friend assaulted by a mob

An undated video of an allegedly Muslim mob beating up a burqa-clad woman for traveling with a Hindu man has gone viral on social media. The video is allegedly from near the Chirag High school in Vasna, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where a mob confronts the duo and thrashes them.

In the video, a group of ruffians are seen assaulting a Muslim woman who tries to hide her face with the help of a burqa. However, the men forcibly removed her veil and threatened to share her video with her family.

“Shoot her video. Take her pictures, I will show them to her parents,” one of the assaulters is heard saying in the video.

Subsequently, the video pans to the Hindu man who was traveling with the Muslim woman. “Shoot his video as well. How dare he roams around with Muslim women,” an unidentified assaulter speaks in the video, even as the Hindu man gets slapped around.

Rising number of incidents of harassment of Muslim women travelling with Hindu men

Lately, many videos have surfaced in which Muslim mobs are seen chasing and stalking Muslim girls who are friends with Hindu men. A similar video surfaced in April this year from the Muslim-dominated Juhapura area of Ahmedabad in which Muslim youths were seen harassing a hijab-clad Muslim woman for talking to a Hindu youth.

In the viral video, some Muslim youths chase a young woman sitting behind a young man who is driving a two-wheeler vehicle. Later, the young Muslim woman is stopped by Muslims who harass the girl with abusive words as they preach to the girl to find friends within the same community rather than befriending any ‘kafir’.

Germany suffering due to obsession with green energy and bureaucracy, industry federation president claims

The German economy will stagnate for as long as the federal government remains obsessed with the green energy transition and wedded to bureaucracy, the Federation of German Industries (BDI) President Siegfried Russwurm has claimed.

In an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, Russwurm criticized the economic policy of the liberal federal coalition government, which has presided over a dramatic fall in Germany’s global economic standing and pushed ahead with the closure of nuclear power plants at a time when energy prices remain high and other European nations have boosted their nuclear energy production.

“Just look at the hard facts, the statistical data from the economists: Germany is now often at the bottom of the rankings in a global economic comparison. This must alarm us as an industrial and exporting country,” said the head of German industry’s leading organization. “It’s about the framework. And this is set by politics and the state. And a lot of things are no longer correct.”

Russwurm highlighted the EU Green Deal, supported by the German government and which made the goal of reaching climate neutrality by 2050 legally binding, as a key problem facing businesses operating in Germany and across wider Europe. Comparing it to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, which he said sought to make green energy cheaper, Europe instead opted to make fossil energy more expensive, a move that has made “a huge difference in the effect on production costs and thus the global competitiveness of companies.”

“We have to be honest about what CO₂-free energy will cost in the long term – not just wind and solar power, but including the necessary backup capacities when the sun and wind are not delivering,” he added.

Russwurm highlighted that in order for Germany to meet its crippling green energy targets, the country needs to build hydrogen-fueled gas power plants that are carbon-free. He added that the government needs to build “at least 50 power plants,” but said that “not one is under construction yet.”

“Massive investments in grids are required for power distribution – all of this parallel to the expansion of wind and solar capacity many times over. It’s high time to draw a line under it and communicate what our path to decarbonization will ultimately cost. I expect this transparency from politicians,” Russwurm said.

The BDI president insisted that “innovation is our strongest tool and one that we have always mastered really well in Germany,” but warned that this is being stifled by high levels of bureaucracy, which is keeping foreign investment away.

In another interview published on the Merkur news site, Russwurm claimed that Germany’s current economic recession has been “self-made,” as the country has “burdened itself with too many obstacles.”

“The biggest problem is that we have gotten ourselves wrapped up in a knot of bureaucracy, regulation, and oversight that is overwhelming and making us far too slow, he said.

“If we focus on innovation, and we have to, then it can’t stay that way. Innovation always has something to do with progress, with speed. There is a massive lack of that.”

He warned that Europe has become “way too bureaucratic” and that what has developed over recent times at every level of government “is far too complicated and crippling” for industry.

“Every single company is faced with enormous bureaucratic requirements. Nobody doubts the good intentions. But the required full documentation is absolutely excessive. If it were applied to private life, it would mean that drivers, for example, would have to actively report every parking transaction to an authority: when, where, and how. Does that sound absurd? Yes. But this is exactly how this law works today,” he said.

“There is endless bureaucracy: in the companies due to the exorbitant reporting requirements and in the authorities that evaluate these reports. The result is a complete disproportion between effort and added value,” he added.

When asked about the federal government’s response to his concerns, Russwurm insisted that “there is no knowledge deficit” but a lack of “courage to break outdated rules.”

“Without innovations, we lose our competitiveness. We urgently need a more opportunity-oriented attitude to innovation. It’s not about ignoring risks, it’s about enabling opportunities,” he added.

Germany entered into a technical recession earlier this year after reporting two consecutive quarters of contraction, a drop of 0.5 percent followed by a 0.3 percent decline.

Opposition leader Freidrich Merz, whose CDU party currently tops the national polls, told the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag that he agreed green policies and bureaucracy had been a driving factor in the country’s fading fortunes.

“Unfortunately, 2023 will be a year of recession,” Merz said, warning that “if the insane amount of bureaucracy isn’t stopped soon, if energy prices don’t fall quickly, then 2024 won’t be a good year either.”

The German Economic Institute expects GDP in the country to fall by up to 0.5 percent by the end of the year, which will see its economic performance slide back to the level it was at in 2019.

It cited high interest rates, expensive energy, and weak exports as the main factors for the current economic paralysis.

Italy Overwhelmed by Record-Breaking Migrant Arrivals

https://www.ansa.it/

A record-breaking number of illegal migrants arrived on Italy’s shores this weekend, leading Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to call an emergency meeting Monday to confront the situation.

On Saturday alone, 3,042 mostly African migrants arrived on the Italian peninsula and total arrivals for the year are over double the number from last year, Italy’s interior ministry reports.

As of Monday, Italy has registered 113,483 sea arrivals since January 1, compared with just 55,785 in the same period last year, the ministry reveals. The weekend’s totals surpassed 6,000 new arrivals with no signs of abating.

Euronews warned last week that Italy’s immigration crisis risks toppling the government of Giorgia Meloni, the country’s first female prime minister.

This year’s numbers are the highest since 2017 and could even surpass the prior yearly record of arrivals reached in 2016 with some 180,000 migrant arrivals over the 12-month period, Euronews noted.

In her opening speech to the Council of Ministers Monday, Meloni convened the Interministerial Committee for the Security of the Republic (Cisr) in order to “tackle the problem in a pragmatic way, with quick and coordinated decisions.”

Meloni also called for more efficient repatriation of clandestine immigrants and an investigation into “further legislative measures to combat illegal immigration and trafficking in human beings, and the consequences of irregular immigration in terms of public security.”

On the small Italian island of Lampedusa, an overwhelming 3,593 migrants currently reside in the island’s modest reception center (hotspot), including 193 unaccompanied minors, which risks provoking a true “humanitarian crisis,” Il Sole 24 Ore reported Monday.

According to Nicola Molteni, undersecretary for the Interior, a new plan has already been formulated to strengthen security with further regulation of immigration.

“The plan is already ready and rests on three key points,” Molteni said. “First, expedite the repatriation of dangerous and violent subjects with a high criminal profile. Second, strengthen and increase detention centers for repatriation. Third, revise the Zampa law on minors.”

The latter refers to legislation from 2017 that introduced a series of benefits for unaccompanied minors entering the country illegally, which some fear has only encouraged the phenomenon.

Modest Texas town repurposed into a dumping ground for expired wind turbine blades

By Olivia Murray

“What’s yours is mine, and what’s mine is mine.”

Sweetwater is a unique place with a special history, dating back to the days before the American settlers; the name of this small town in central Texas is itself, derived from a word of the Kiowa Indians. The Kiowa were a nomadic tribe that often hunted through “Mobeetie” or in English, “sweet water” but eventually, the tribe was brought to heel by a federal military under the command of Ulysses S. Grant, during the conflict known as the Red River War — Grant didn’t get the moniker Mr. Lincoln’s Butcher for nothing!

Speaking of subjugation … from an article out at Texas Monthly four days ago:

Officials in Sweetwater say an out-of-state company has made their town a dump for the seldom-seen trash created by renewable energy.

Sweetwater has unwittingly become home to what is possibly the world’s largest collection of unwanted wind turbine blades.

For anyone who doesn’t already know, wind turbine blades at this point in time, can’t be recycled, so ordinarily, these expired blades wind up in landfills. According to a study published in June of this year in the Scientific Reports journal, around 2.4% of turbine blades must be decommissioned every year, and per the United States Geological Survey, there are more than 70,800 wind turbines registered in the country. So, assuming each turbine has three blades on it, that means that roughly 5,100 blades every year, just in the U.S., become literal garbage (although arguably, they always were). Blades can weigh anywhere from 5,200 pounds each, to as much as 27,000 — that makes for between 27 million and 138 million pounds of trash bound for landfills annually.

Back to Sweetwater. In 2017, a Washington-state company called Global Fiberglass Solutions came along, promising an exciting new way to repurpose the blades, and since then, GFS has been dumping the blades in the far-off land of Texas. According to the Texas Monthly article, the managing director himself admitted that only a fraction of the stockpile had ever been “recycled.”

Also from the article was the testimony of Pamala Meyer, a resident of Sweetwater:

When forklifts deposited the first of these in a field behind the apartment complex where Pamala Meyer lives … she wasn’t initially bothered. But then the blades … kept coming. Each was cut into thirds, with each segment longer than a school bus. Thousands arrived over several years, eventually blanketing more than thirty acres, in stacks rising as high as basketball backboards. Every few dozen feet, a break among the stacks leads into an industrial hedge maze.

I assumed the “eyesore” turbines couldn’t look worse than when they were erect and functioning, but boy was I wrong! This is an old X (formerly Twitter) post, which shows you how long this has been a problem for the people of Sweetwater:

But the green aristocrats can’t be bothered with the concerns of the little guy, they’re on a mission to save humanity! (The irony is painful.) Lastly:

Sweetwater isn’t the only place Global Fiberglass has stockpiled blades. It has a total of 1,300 in Newton, Iowa, and two other cities in that state, according to the state’s Department of Natural Resources. After an investigation, the agency concluded in 2021 there was no recycling going on, nor was any likely to happen. It declared the company to be running an unpermitted dump.

dump. Leftists skirting regulations, contaminating the environment and polluting the landscape, all the make a buck. Classic.

Walter Bagehot, although not consistently reliable mind given his asinine issues with the U.S. constitution (he denigrated the document as“inflexible” … which was the point), did however accurately articulate what the residents of Sweetwater now experience; he once said, “You may talk of the tyranny of Nero and Tiberius; but the real tyranny is the tyranny of your next-door neighbor.”

Green aristocrats live and die by exploitation, and nowhere is that more obvious than their approach to policy and civic life; they don’t even have to have political control, their presence in a community alone brings tyranny!

Conservative Councillor Arrested for Sharing ‘Hate Crime’ Video of Christian Street Preacher Being Detained

A Conservative politician was arrested in England for allegedly engaging in a hate crime by sharing a video showing police detaining a Christian street preacher and for defending the free speech of a fellow councillor who criticised the LGBT Pride movement.

In yet another blow to the state of freedom of expression in Britain, Conservative Councillor Anthony Stevens has revealed that he was arrested at his home earlier this month by Northamptonshire Police for posts he made on social media, for which they dragged him into a police station for questioning.

The Wellingborough representative is facing a public order offence under section 19 of the Public Order Act 1986, with police saying that he is suspected of spreading material that could “stir up racial hatred”.

Stevens told The Telegraph that officers questioned him over a video a post on X, formerly Twitter, which showed Christian preacher Oluwole Ilisanmi being arrested in 2019 for supposedly being Islamophobic. Christian preachers have come under increasing pressure from law enforcement in the UK for merely espousing beliefs laid out in the Bible. Ilisanmi was ultimately cleared and was awarded £2,500 for being wrongfully arrested.

The police informed him that the video was first posted by a member of the nationalist Britain First party, however, Stevens maintained that he was unaware of the party and that he had only shared the video to demonstrate the “disturbing evidence of religious discrimination in law enforcement”.

Councillor Stevens said that he was also questioned by officers over his support for his fellow Northamptonshire councillor, King Lawal, who was suspended from his post for expressing the Christian view that pride is a sin and that those who celebrate pride, such as the LGBT movement, should repent and return to the Lord. Police questioned Stevens as to why he shared a petition supporting Lawal’s reinstatement, to which he replied that he is a “free speech absolutist”.

The police went on to question whether he endorsed Lawal’s position that pride is a sin. Stevens stated that “it did not matter whether he agreed with what he said or not, he believed he had the right to say it without having his life torn apart”.

Finally, the police also questioned the Conservative politician for a post that included a man burning a copy of the Qur’an, which Stevens once again said was intended to demonstrate his support for the “right to free speech in a free society”.

Commenting on his arrest, he said: “It is appalling and bizarre to be brutally arrested for sharing a petition in defending the right to free speech of a fellow councillor. The accusation of racial hatred is ridiculous and insulting. My only crime has been supporting the only black local councillor in Northamptonshire.”

“In a true democratic society, you cannot have people being arrested for a few tweets. We must have debate, we must have the freedom to criticise and offend each other, otherwise this country is going to swiftly go to pot.

The councillor said that the arrest was “frightening” and he felt that it was intended to be so, as well as to “humiliate” him in front of his wife and children. Stevens said that there was “no need to ambush me in my own house, arrest me, search me, keep me in the cell for the whole day, interrogate me or confiscate my phone.”

“If elected members cannot share their beliefs or support each other in their right to share their beliefs without losing our jobs and being arrested, then we are in a very dark place,” he concluded.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “On Aug 2, Northamptonshire Police received a report of a hate crime regarding posts made on social media. In response, a 50-year-old man was arrested on the morning of Aug 7 on suspicion of distributing written material to stir up racial hatred. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

“As this is a live investigation, the force is unable to comment further.”

Indonesia: School teacher partially shaves heads of 14 girls for ‘incorrectly’ wearing hijabs

A teacher in Indonesia partially shaved off heads of 14 girls for not following Islamic dress code properly (Image Source – OpIndia/Bing AI)

In an act of moral policing, a school on the main island of Indonesia courted a fresh controversy over forcefully imposing an Islamic dress code on a group of minor female students. Evidently, the headmaster of a school revealed that a teacher took it upon herself to ‘punish’ 14 girls who were accused of wearing their Islamic hijab headscarves ‘incorrectly’.

Apparently, the incident took place at the state-owned junior high school SMPN 1 in Lamongan, East Java, last Wednesday (23 August). As per reports, the accused teacher partially shaved the heads of all 14 girls for not following the dress code properly.

Harto, the headmaster identified by a single name, stated that the school had issued an apology and temporarily suspended the teacher accountable for the incident.

Pertinently, a debate regarding the enforcement of dress codes, particularly one forcing to wear the hijab, in Indonesia’s conservative regions has rocked the island nation for a long time now. Despite the fact that the Muslim-majority nation, Indonesia banned mandatory dress codes in schools in 2021, activists have highlighted that both Muslim and non-Muslim girls have long been compelled to wear hijabs.

Notably, while speaking to AFP, Harto stated that there is no official obligation for female students to wear hijabs, but they were encouraged to wear inner caps beneath their headscarves for a neater appearance.

Harto added that unfortunately, these students did not adhere to this suggestion and they left their fringes visible.

When the incident came to light, Human rights groups reacted strongly to this issue and demanded the dismissal of the accused teacher. An Indonesian researcher at Human Rights Watch named Andreas Harsono described the Lamongan incident as one of the most intimidating cases ever in Indonesia. He emphasised that there is a need for sanctions against the teacher and the involvement of psychologists to support the victims.

After the troubling incident, the school held mediation with the parents of the affected students and arrived at a mutual understanding.

Additionally, the school has committed that it will provide psychological assistance to the affected girls to help them cope with the trauma.

Overall, there are six major religions in Indonesia, however, there have been widespread concerns about growing religious intolerance in the Island nation.

Multiple reports from as early as 2021 have pointed out that students have faced disciplinary actions for ‘not adhering to dress code rules’. And these actions reportedly include having their hijabs cut or receiving penalties.

One major headscarf-related case erupted in 2021 when a Christian student in West Sumatra was compelled to wear a hijab. The officials described the case as the “tip of the iceberg”.

All these incidences of moral policing and forceful imposition of the Islamic dress code in schools have sparked a larger debate regarding religious attire in schools.

Germany: Man who brutally stabbed 2 children in Berlin schoolyard has case dropped, will see no jail time

Despite 34-year-old Berhan S. breaking into the Protestant school in the multicultural Berlin neighborhood of Neukölln and stabbing two little girls, his crime will go unpunished. Instead, the courts have ruled that due to “mental illness,” he cannot be held responsible for the stabbing case, in which two 8-year-old girls nearly lost their lives after suffering multiple wounds to their necks and chests.

In the Berlin public prosecutor’s office’s “preliminary psychiatric report,” it stated that Berhan S. “was in a psychotic state at the time of the crime due to a mental illness,” which was first reported by BZ.

Remix News reported on the stabbing in May when it first occurred. The man scaled the fence of the Christian school and stabbed the two girls while they were playing table tennis as 30 children in the schoolyard looked on in horror.

BZ journalist Gunnar Schupelius criticized the manner in which the man was deemed psychologically unfit to stand trial. So far, the courts only released the information that Berhan S. stated he “heard voices ordering him to kill the girls.” However, the public has not received any other information, and the process by which the man was deemed unfit to stand trial remains opaque, while the families have been offered little in terms of closure or justice.

Berhan S. also has plenty of experience with the criminal justice system and may have had a motive to fake or embellish a psychiatric condition. He was already arrested for stabbing his ex-girlfriend in 2009, Sonja K., who barely survived the stabbing. The mother of the victim said that both she and her daughter were threatened by Berhan S.’s strict Islamic family if they went to the police with any complaints against the death threats.

Berhan S. had at least 11 criminal complaints on his record before targeting the schoolgirls, including threats, physical assault, and coercion.

“Many questions remain unanswered,” wrote Schupelius in his commentary piece. “Was Berhan S. observed by the police? What role does his religious indoctrination play? Why did he hear his voices outside a Christian school?”

He criticized that due to the lack of investigation, the public may never learn what was behind the attack.

German courts have a long history of throwing out high-profile cases due to psychiatric concerns. In Berlin in 2021, an Islamic radical was found ineligible to stand trial despite running over motorcyclists and praying to Allah after his crimes. In 2020, a Somali migrant who murdered three women in a knife attack in Würzburg never stood trial after he was committed to a psychiatric ward, and an Eritrean migrant who pushed an 8-year-old boy to his death on train tracks in Frankfurt in 2020 also avoided jail for the same reason.

The press just can’t stop lying with its term ‘climate deniers’

By Jack Hellner

Here is a fact: People who disagree with the green agenda do not say that the climate hasn’t changed. We are not deniers. What we say is that the climate has changed cyclically and naturally through billions of years and we see no scientific data that shows that humans and our use of natural resources are the cause of the minor amount of warming and small sea level change since the little ice age ended around 1860.

Climate deniers are entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts

Here are some things that this piece campaigning for the radical green agenda to destroy companies that have greatly improved our quality and length of life are calling facts:

2023 is likely to be the hottest year on record, and possibly the hottest in 100,000 years

We don’t have 100,000 years of records so how would we know? Are the measuring stations that we do have for the last 140 years in the same place or do they constantly move? The weather stations are not spaced by area of the world so there is no way to come up with an average worldwide temperature.

This year’s excessive heat has already resulted in 235,000 emergency room visits and more than 56,000 hospitalizations in the U.S., at a cost of more than $1 billion. The heat has also caused as much as $100 billion in reduced time and productivity on the job, a number that is likely to double by 2030. This summer, the temperature in Phoenix topped 110 degrees for 31 consecutive days, and failed to drop below 90 degrees for 16 consecutive days. Annual deaths attributable to the heat have quadrupled in Phoenix in the last decade.

This paragraph may be filled with factual information but where is the scientific data that shows that any of this is related to our consumption of coal, oil, meat, or milk?

The price tag of the recent wildfire in Hawaii could reach $16 billion — and the death toll continues to mount. Wildfire smoke, which travels thousands of miles, affects breathing, and can exacerbate asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cardiovascular disease.

If trends continue, wildfires will increase 50 percent by the end of the century.

According to Forest Facts:

Forest fires were larger and more intense 100 years ago than today.

Climate change contributes to floods and droughts, albeit in different parts of the country. Warmer temperatures increase evaporation, put more moisture into the atmosphere and dramatically increase the amount of rain in many storms and hurricanes. In 2017, Hurricane Harvey dumped more than 60 inches of rain and caused an eight-foot storm surge in coastal areas of Texas.

This is all factual but where is the scientific data showing that humans and our use of natural resources have anything to do with it?

As sea levels rise, coastal flooding will increase significantly, perhaps by one foot by 2050, adding to the 4.3 million homes in Florida, California, South Carolina and Texas currently deemed at risk of being swept away.

That paragraph above is not factual. It contains predictions and climate change predictions of the past have been greatly exaggerated. Claiming it is factual is propaganda pushing an agenda.

Here is a fact: if humans and our exponential increase in the consumption of natural resources had caused the sea level rise it would have risen more than an immeasurable 9 inches in 140 years.

Global mean sea level has risen about 8–9 inches (21–24 centimeters) since 1880.

The megadrought in the American West, which has lasted for more than two decades, has made the region drier than it has been in more than 1,200 years, causing massive crop losses, water shortages and lower groundwater levels. Moreover, droughts help wildfires spread more easily.

The above paragraph is filled with lies. The drought is over because of record cold and snow this past winter which the green pushers didn’t predict. Droughts in California 1,000 years ago were estimated to be over 100 years long. The reason so much of California is a desert is because of long droughts They clearly weren’t caused by humans and our use of oil and coal.

Which of the green policies caused the drought to end? The answer is none. It ended cyclically and naturally because of record snow.

Over 95% of the state was classified as under severe drought one year ago. Today 0% is that severe drought classification. Beyond that, more than 65% is no longer under any drought classification.

Virtually all climate scientists agree that human activities (i.e. the release of carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere) have warmed the surface of the Earth and ocean basins, and affected extreme weather events.

That paragraph above may be factual, but it is irrelevant when you don’t show the scientific data to support their beliefs. Basically, follow the money. Scientists at universities and elsewhere will have their money cut off if they dare disagree with the radical green agenda.

It is a shame that almost all people posing as journalists spread propaganda and predictions as factual and seek to destroy and silence anyone who disagrees.

Pope Francis Asks Journalists to Help Him Spin ‘Synod on Synodality’

Pope Francis has enlisted the help of sympathetic journalists to help him put a positive spin on the upcoming “synod on synodality” after several prominent cardinals have criticized the event.

“I dare to ask you, the experts of journalism, for help,” the pontiff told a meeting of journalists in the Vatican this weekend; “help me to narrate this process for what it really is, leaving behind the logic of slogans and pre-packaged stories.”

Synodality, as numerous pundits have observed, is notoriously difficult to define and critics have suggested that such is the express intention, since a lack of clarity leaves the process open to greater manipulation. A synod is a meeting or assembly and synodality would be a movement toward a system of decision-making where such meetings take on more central importance.

In its spirit of “openness” and “listening,” this fall’s synod on synodality proposes to revisit a series of issues within church teaching that most assumed had already been definitively decided. The idea that nothing is off the table has proved disconcerting for Catholics who look to the Church for truth and stability rather than moral trendiness and cultural accommodation.

American Catholic intellectual George Weigel has suggested that there exists a fundamental dichotomy in understanding within the ecclesiastical community between a “Church in mission” and a “Church in meeting,” the latter his gentle swipe at the idea of a synod on synodality.

The only people fully engaged in the consultative “phases” before the Synod have been “people who love to go to meetings in order to share with like-minded spirits their complaints about The Way Things Are in Catholicism,” Weigel warned.

It is not self-evidently clear how discernment about a “synodal Church,” is going to chart a path beyond the abandonment of rock-bottom Christian beliefs, which is “at the root of today’s rapidly declining Catholic practice,” Weigel proposed, concluding that now “is not the time for a Church in meetings.”

In his address this weekend, Pope Francis acknowledged that the idea of a synod on synodality “may seem something abstruse, self-referential, excessively technical, of little interest to the general public,” and hence his appeal to journalists to help repackage the event in more positive terms.

“We have opened our doors, we have offered everyone the opportunity to participate, we have taken into account everyone’s needs and suggestions,” the pope pleaded. “We want to contribute together to build the Church where everyone feels at home, where no-one is excluded.”

The problem many of Francis’s critics have pointed out is the blurred line between including “everyone” and including every idea and practice, even the bad ones incompatible with the Church’s doctrine and moral teachings.

As Breitbart News reported, conservative Cardinal Raymond Burke has warned that the move toward synodality is causing “evident and grave harm” to the Church.

Burke observed this month that the Catholic Church in Germany has already experimented with synodality, with disastrous results, spreading “confusion and error and their fruit, division – indeed schism.”

The same confusion and error and division could well “be visited upon the universal Church,” Burke cautioned.

The cardinal also highlighted the innovative and indeed “revolutionary” nature of trying to redefine the Church by synodality.

From the time of the Apostles, he noted, the Church has been characterized by four marks, namely that it is “One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic,” but never by synodality.

Indeed, Lumen Gentium, the dogmatic constitution on the Church issued by the Second Vatican Council in 1964, never even mentioned the word synodality.

The late Australian Cardinal George Pell similarly called the upcoming synod on synodality a “toxic nightmare,” asserting that it is “hostile” to the Church’s apostolic tradition.

The synod’s working document focuses on radical inclusion, listening, participation, and co-responsibility with believers and nonbelievers, while ignoring central themes of Christian teaching and practice, Pell wrote.

Cardinal Gerhard Müller, the former prefect of the Vatican’s doctrinal office, has called the synodal path a “hostile takeover of the Church of Jesus Christ.”

“If they succeed, it will be the end of the Catholic Church,” he said of those promoting the synodal process. “And we must resist it like the old heretics of Arianism.”
