‘Shock and astonishment’ – 110 nursing home seniors evicted by Christian organization to make room for refugees in Berlin

Many elderly nursing home residents were left in tears after they were evicted to make room for migrants in Berlin. The case has received widespread media coverage and highlights a growing trend in Germany. Adding to the scandal is that the owners of the building and operators of the nursing home are Christian non-profit institutions that belong to the Berlin Diakonie.

The building, located on Müller Street, was meant to house elderly residents for at least another 10 years. Originally, “Wohnen & Pflege Schillerpark” in the Berlin district of Wedding bought the building to house 141 residents and signed a lease for 25 years. The nursing home was run by the Paul Gerhard Foundation starting in 2006 with an option to extend.

That plan has been terminated early, and instead, the building has shifted to housing refugees. The foundation running the nursing home informed 110 elderly residents they would have to leave, with half already moving out, and the other half slated to leave at the end of 2023.

The residents that have already left the building faced emotional goodbyes as they were forced to pack their belongings.

“During the evictions, tears flowed among those affected. Containers stood in front of the building for days, the furniture was simply thrown away,” said an anonymous relative.

Focus magazine may have broken the story, but the news has also been picked up by German newspapers across the country, including BZ, which quoted a neighbor living nearby, 84-year-old Heinz B., who said, “The first refugees moved in at the beginning of February.”

Focus wrote that it is far more lucrative to house migrants. This may have been a consideration, even for Christian organizations, which have budgets they must carefully watch and staff to pay. According to Focus online and other media sources, operators can earn far more money housing migrants than caring for elderly patients in Germany.

BZ media outlet spoke to the Paul Gerhardt Foundation, which claimed the conversion of the nursing home was not an economic decision. Instead, it stemmed from “the requests of the State Office for Refugees (LAF).” If true, it means the government also played an active role in forcing out the elderly residents to make room for migrants.

In addition, the Paul Gerhardt Foundation wrote that “the decision to change the use was made after the prematurely changed contract.” However, what the foundation does not mention is that both it and the other Christian organization, Johannesstift Diakonie, were the ones that “prematurely” ended the contract themselves. In fact, the Paul Gerhardt Foundation, which is run by a pastor, pressured the other foundation to give up its lease using a specific exceptional clause, which will be addressed later in this article.

Elderly residents did not want to leave

The organization offered to immediately relocate the residents to other locations, but there were few takers since many of them wanted to stay close to their families in the area. The building was equipped for elderly residents, and many of them planned to spend the rest of their life there.

According to Focus, the news that they were being evicted was met with “shock and astonishment” from the residents. The magazine writes that when it comes to nursing homes, residents also pick based on location and proximity to family. Being forced from a nursing home can be a disorienting experience for many people at an advanced age, and nursing home care providers often emphasize that security, continuity, and a stress-free environment are all essential elements in ensuring proper care for seniors.

How were the residents evicted despite a lease?

Focus writes that the news of the eviction first came to light in a statement, which detailed how the Johannisstift Diakonie had terminated the lease for the nursing home. The statement was signed by Pastor Martin von Essen, the head of the Paul Gerhard Foundation, which runs Johannisstift Diakonie. In the statement, residents were informed the lease was ending, but residents were also not made aware that the lease was originally meant to run until 2031.

While glossing over the eviction of the elderly residents, near the end of the statement, the pastor emphasizes “decades of experience” in refugee work. He finally announces that the nursing home will “expand” the “places for multiple traumatized people in need of protection” from the end of 2022/2023.

However, the pastor may have used hardball tactics to force out the seniors. Focus writes that his organization ended the lease early by claiming it would seize the property under a “personal use” clause. This personal use clause, often quite controversial, is regularly used by landlords seeking to evict tenants despite an existing contract. The landlord simply claims he or she, or a family member, needs the property for their own personal accommodation. It is unclear exactly how the Paul Gerhard Foundation would justify “personal use” to end the contract early in this case, but apparently it was enough to force the other organization to agree to break their leases as well.

When asked about using the “personal use” clause, the pastor refused to answer Focus’ questions on the subject, but according to the news outlet, “In church circles (…) it is an open secret that running a refugee home is financially more attractive than running a nursing home.”

This is not the only instance of church organizations evicting seniors to make way for refugees, either. Earlier this month, the story broke that 40 tenants were being evicted from their apartments in Lörrach to make way for refugees. Both cases highlight the enormous pressure on cities and municipalities to accommodate millions of newcomers in recent years. In 2022, 244,132 asylum seekers registered in Germany, in addition to more than a million Ukrainian war refugees. At the same time, both cases highlight skewed financial incentives that exist for operators, which make it more profitable to house migrants than elderly citizens.

Britain: Woman Honor Killed by Uncle was ‘Dumped Like Rubbish’

A 20-year-old woman was murdered by her uncle and her body dumped “like rubbish” while she was subject to a protection order after attempts to force her to marry, a jury has been told.

Prosecutors told jurors at Bradford Crown Court they may hear the murder of university student Somaiya Begum explained in terms of an “inappropriately named honour killing”.

But Jason Pitter KC added: “Whatever it was… it was not honourable.”

The jury of eight women and four men was told by Mr Pitter that Ms Begum’s uncle, Mohammed Taroos Khan, 53, killed her at her home in Binnie Street, Bradford, on June 25 last year.

Opening the prosecution case against Khan on Wednesday, he said: “She had met a traumatic death following a violent attack at her home, the nature of which was demonstrated by the metal spike which was embedded in her.”

Mr Pitter said Khan “bundled up” his niece’s body and it was “dumped and left to rot and decompose on wasteland like rubbish, such that she was not recognisable”.

The prosecutor said the body was found 11 days later wrapped in a rug, tied up with string, on land used as a dumping ground on Fitzwilliam Street, Bradford.

He said her body was so decomposed it was not possible to find a cause of death but there was an 11cm long metal spike embedded in her chest which had punctured her lung.

Mr Pitter told the jury that Miss Begum was living at the house in Binnie Street with another of her uncles, Dawood Khan, and her grandmother under the terms of a Forced Marriage Protection Order.

This was due to attempts by her father to force her to marry a cousin from Pakistan “by threat of violence”, he said.

The prosecutor said there were “fault lines” in the family, adding that these were partly about “the way in which members of the family interpreted their cultural or religious obligations”.

Mr Pitter said the defendant was also subject to a restraining order prohibiting him from attending the address in Binnie Street.

He explained to the jury that this order had been in place since 2016, after he was convicted of punching his own daughter before holding a knife to her throat and threatening to “chop her up”.

The prosecutor said: “This, it would appear, had been triggered by a belief on his part that she had been involved in inappropriate relationships because she was contacting boys.”

He said Miss Begum, who also worked as a part-time carer, was happy at her grandmother’s house.

He told the jury that Khan has admitted a charge of perverting the course of justice by disposing of Miss Begum’s body and burning her mobile telephone.

Mr Pitter said the defendant was caught on CCTV pulling up alongside a gap in a wall on Fitzwilliam Street and dragging a large and apparently heavy item from the car onto the waste ground.

“That was obviously Somaiya,” he told the jury.

The barrister said that when Khan was shown this footage “he stated that he had some garbage and had been dumping it”.

He told the jury: “In fact, that ‘garbage’, to use his word, was Somaiya.”

Mr Pitter said the defendant also told detectives he had been “set up by West YorkshirePolice”.

The prosecutor told the jury that Khan denies murdering his niece and “it must follow that he is saying that someone or others are responsible for killing her”.

Mr Pitter said that, it may be that Khan’s defence “advances issues in relation to the family’s culture and religion which may have been the misguided justification to kill her.

He said: “We suppose in the context of the inappropriately named ‘honour killing’.

“Whatever it was …. it was not honourable.”

Zafar Ali KC, defending, told the jurors there will be times in the trial when they will be “utterly sickened” by what they hear, including “the terrible way (Miss Begum’s) body was just dumped like rubbish”.

Mr Ali said: “No-one could deny that the attack on Somaiya on June 25 last year was both terrible and unforgivable”.

But the barrister told the jury: “Mohammed Taroos Khan accepts that Somaiya Begum, his niece, was murdered but he did not murder her.

“He knew nothing about the death until after Somaiya had been killed.”

Mr Ali said his client had been “summoned” to Binnie Street “to dispose of her body”.

Khan, of Thornbury Road, Bradford, denies murder but has admitted perverting the course of justice.

The trial is expected to last three weeks.

The brave Israelis who live near Shechem – The geography of fear has been generous to Israel: from the border with Lebanon to the farthest south

by Giulio Meotti

They call them “settlers”, the hawks who do not want to lower their wings, the most “illegal” inhabitants of the earth, who UN resolutions, Europe, Jihadists and American wokes have always tried to drive away from their homes. Everyone talks about Israel, few with Israel, even fewer with “the settlers”.

In Samaria, the more you go to live in the eastern part, the more you demonstrate your steadfastness. These are the hundred thousand Israelis who live outside the thousand kilometers of barriers, walls and fences that seal the pre-1967 ‘borders’ of the Jewish State.

The geography of fear has been generous to Israel: from the border with Lebanon to the farthest south, the life of Israelis every day is linked to the ghost of insecurity. In Judea and Samaria, it is even more so. Here attacks are frequent, you are never far from the frontier that creeps into the houses, cars, dreams and nightmares of those who live there.

The Jews living near Shechem are now despised and demonized by the media and leftists.. I have been there many times and they are the most brave Israelis.

From Rechelim, a small and isolated community, named after two Israeli women killed by terrorists, where the Tura winery is owned by the family of Vered Ben Saadan, you take route 60. It goes from Beersheba in the south to Nazareth in the north.

90 percent of the Bible took place here. I entered Hawara, a Palestinian Arab village now at center of headlines. The Israelis are afraid but have to pass through here and they are right. On the right side is Itamar, which evokes terrible facts. In June 2002, a terrorist entered the Shabo family home and killed a mother and three children. Then there was, in 2011, the massacre of the Fogels: father, mother and four children had their throats cut, slaughtered in the middle of the night.

There I met Avri Ran, the founder of Itamar. He wants to connect Itamar with the Jordan Valley. Five soldiers are stationed here defending the families of the “Hill of Arnon”. “We are here to keep the Jordan Valley and the road to Netanya in our hands”, a Jew told me. “Ariel Sharon asked us to come up here to protect the road from Jordan to the coast. Peace with Amman is splendid, but what if King Hussein falls or others take over? In that case we are here, together with the army. If we’re not here, Hamas would be here in a week”.

On the road to Elon Moreh you pass by the place where there was the murder of the Henkins in front of their four children who were in the back of the car. Two Israeli flags are placed in memory. Elon Moreh’s cottages are the furthest east of the territories, the most isolated of all the communities. You have to climb Mount Kabir to understand. Moshe Dayan and Shimon Peres were the ones who decided to settle Jews here. Ariel Sharon made many tours in the region to choose the place from which to start.

From Mt Kabir the most amazing thing to visit is the hill over the Tirza valley. It is without the presence of a single Jew. You arrive at the other mountain that overlooks Nablus, Mount Gerizim. On the street is the village of the Samaritans, they are friends of Israel opposed by the Arabs. The Palestinian Authority is afraid to enter the refugee camp below. It is “no man’s land”.

I went up to Har Bracha. Ariel Sharon came up here in 2002 when he launched the battle for the kasbah of Nablus. Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, leader of this community, told me: “From up here you can see as far as Syria. Without biblical heritage rights, Israel has no meaning”.

Even most of the Israelis who would never venture there understand that.

And one day they will thank these heroic Jews.

Young expats are leaving ‘unsafe’ France and heading for Hungary

The French government’s insistence on promoting mass immigration into the country has led many French nationals to leave the country in search of improved security and quality of life. Now, many French citizens are finding a safe haven in Central and Eastern Europe, according to French news outlet Boulevard Voltaire.

The article, titled “To flee immigration, these French choose emigration,” makes reference to an Elabe Institute survey conducted in December last year for the French broadcaster BFMTV, which revealed that 67 percent of French people no longer feel safe in the country. As such, more French citizens are seeking to ease their security concernsby emigrating to countries with more conservative immigration policies, primarily in Central and Eastern Europe.

The author, Julien Teller, notes how more than 1.6 million French nationals were estimated to be living abroad as of January 2022. However, the country’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs considers the figure to be far higher, and it could be closer to 2.5 million. The ministry explained the figure is likely to be higher than official estimates due to the fluidity of European mobility and the fact that not all expatriates register their movements.

Teller explained how a significant number of French ex-pats are not moving for economic reasons, a key factor for most migrants arriving in Europe, but because of “identity motivations.”

While a higher percentage of older French nationals choose countries such as Portugal to enjoy their retirement, a country where more than 120,000 retired French citizens now reside, the younger generation is choosing Central and Eastern Europe countries such as Hungary and Czechia to relocate.

Teller spoke particularly of Hungary, which he claims is a preferred destination for young French workers who no longer feel that living in France is in their best interests.

He cites a French videographer named Simon Vesperini who has relocated to Hungary and produces digital content for his 11,000 subscribers online inviting other French nationals who wish to “leave the decadence” of France to do the same.

Teller also references YouTube videos published by another French ex-pat, Frédéric Delavier, who tells his 116,000 subscribers how choosing to leave France for Hungary has changed his life.

“For me, the quality of life in Hungary is superior. What I can buy in Hungary, I couldn’t have bought in France at all,” Delavier explains.

Other testimonies include that from Laetitia, a mother who relocated her family to Hungary during the Covid-19 pandemic. “I lived in Nîmes – a city that has changed a lot in a few years,” she told the Boulevard Voltaire publication. “Now, I no longer worry about my children. Aged 23 and 20, they study in Budapest, a quiet city, where they are safe. It changed my life!”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said often that Christians would flee from the West to Hungary in the future.

“During our lifetime, a great many Christians will come to Hungary from Western Europe,” Orbán said in 2020. “Yes, I think the tendency that many are coming back from Western Europe will continue. Some are buying up smaller settlements wholesale, and we must be prepared for that.”

Many newcomers may not necessarily be Christian, but view the country as a safe haven in terms of public safety and even freedom of expression. Hungarian officials have repeatedly touted Hungary’s relative safety compared to Western countries like France and Germany.

According to the Numbeo Quality of Life index, France ranks 30th overall in the world, while Hungary is ranked 40th; however, this doesn’t tell the whole story.

Analysis of the safety index sees France awarded just 44.7, the second-lowest score in Europe and better only than Belarus. In contrast, countries such as Czechia (73.4) have one of the highest ratings on the continent, while Poland (70.8), Slovakia (68.6), and Hungary (66.1) also post highly respectable scores.

As Remix News previously reported, European citizens are much less likely to be robbed in countries like Hungary and Poland compared to Western European countries, and this also applies to other serious crime statistics, such as rape.

Czechia and Hungary also record the two best scores in Europe for the ratio of home prices to income ratio, a key factor for young ex-pats wanting to get onto the property ladder.

France: Afghan migrant sentenced to one year in prison for sexually assaulting a young autistic woman at a public festival. “I did not know that touching the breasts is forbidden in France”

An Afghan asylum seeker was sentenced to one year in prison without probation for sexually assaulting a young autistic woman at a festive Noz in Redon in October 2022.

“Today you apologize, but why, since you say you did nothing?” the presiding judge asked the 26-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who was on trial Monday, Feb. 27, for sexually assaulting a vulnerable person. The case involves a 29-year-old woman with autistic disorders whom he had met on October 23, 2022, at a fest-noz as part of the Bogue Festival in Redon.

That evening, she escapes her father’s supervision when he is talking to a friend. When she returns about 15 minutes later, she explains that she was raped by an unknown man in the toilet. She told the gendarmes that she was “kissed on the mouth by a man and pulled into the toilet,” where he grabbed her breasts and then punched her in the face and crotch. According to her, penetration also allegedly occurred. She repeats this at the hearing, where she is present with her parents.

(…) He adds, “I did not know that touching the breasts is forbidden in France.” And when he initially told investigators that he had not done anything, it was “because he was afraid of going to jail” and that it would harm his asylum claim, with the risk of being sent back to his country, where the Taliban rule. However, he said he “never forced” the young woman because he realized she was “mentally unstable.” Ouest-France

Syrian rapes 15-year-old German girl and leaves court a free man because he is well on his way to becoming a normal citizen in Germany

Osnabrück district court, A.Savin, CC-BY-SA-3.0,2.5,2.0,1.0

In July 2022, a 30-year-old man raped a girl that was unknown to him in a courtyard in the city of Osnabrück. The district court has now sentenced the Syrian refugee to the highest possible suspended sentence.
Two years in prison is the longest sentence that can still be suspended in Germany. Just one more day and the offender will have to serve his sentence behind bars. The 30-year-old Osnabrück man who now had to answer to the district court was lucky – if he does not reoffend in a similar way, he can spend the next years in freedom.

At first glance at the crime, this may seem disturbing, because the juvenile court confirmed the charge according to which the 30-year-old raped a 15-year-old girl who was a complete stranger to him. The crime occurred in the early morning of July 10, 2022, a Sunday. The 15-year-old girl wanted to go to her boyfriend who lives in Möserstraße, the accused came from a disco and actually wanted to go home.

“He did not already run after her from Neumarkt, as the indictment says, but only encountered and approached her in Möserstraße,” said defence lawyer Frank Otten, who made a statement on behalf of his client. The 30-year-old apparently asked the teenager for a cigarette, they had stood together, smoked and talked. “At least as far as his language skills allowed.”

Exactly why the accused, who had never attracted attention for a sexual assault, then raped the teenager remained open. “Possibly he was stimulated by the alcohol, he probably thought, ‘I can still convince her’,” Otten said. “It was the first time I had drunk alcohol,” his client added.
In fact, the accused would not have had to stand trial for consensual sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl, which German criminal law allows in principle. But there was no question of consensuality in this case: Against her will, the accused pushed his victim against the wall “and did not stop fiddling with her when she fled into a stairwell”, said presiding judge Michael Hune in his reasoning for the sentence. Finally, the rape took place with the use of violence. A DNA analysis led to the perpetrator’s conviction.
Finally, the 30-year-old was also convicted of supplying narcotics to minors. At some point during the encounter, he had handed over a bag containing half a gram of cannabis to the 15-year-old girl.

“I am not allowed to say anything about the content of the deliberations, but we had a hard time,” said presiding judge Michael Hune in his explanation of the verdict. If only for the sake of general prevention, he said, the court had to take tough action when a 15-year-old girl was raped in broad daylight in the middle of Osnabrück. “I think we all want to live in a city where you don’t have to fear something like that.”
In the accused’s favour, however, was the fact that he had been disinhibited due to alcohol and had no previous convictions of note. From a purely legal point of view, the intensity of the rape was also “on the lower edge”. To explain: while most people think of rape as sexual intercourse carried out with the use of force, criminal law provides that some other sexual acts are also legally considered rape if they are carried out against the will of the person concerned.
Finally, Hune emphasised that the 30-year-old, who had fled to Germany from Syria in 2015, had a flat and would soon have a job. “You are well on the way to becoming a normal citizen here.

All this prevented the defendant from having to serve a prison sentence. However, the court imposed some conditions on him for the three-year probationary period: From now on, he is not allowed to come closer than 50 metres to his victim and has to leave immediately if he sees the girl anywhere. In addition, the Syrian has to pay compensation for pain and suffering in the amount of 3,000 euros. According to the chairman, Michael Hune, this means that the 15-year-old has more from the suspended sentence than she would have from his stay in prison. “This way you can at least work and pay her the pain and suffering money, which she would otherwise certainly never get.”

Man arrested in Marseille after moving in to vulnerable elderly victim’s apartment and raping her each night

A 25-year-old Senegalese national was arrested in France last month for alleged multiple rapes of an elderly woman who had invited him in off the streets to warm up in her home.

The suspect was arrested and placed in police custody on Feb. 19 after a torrent of sexual abuse against his victim, a 64-year-old woman, which lasted for at least a few days.

It is understood the victim had met the man who appeared to be homeless on the street in Marseille, and had invited him into her home located in the 5th arrondissement of the city to recover from the cold weather.

A source close to the case told French news outlet Actu17 how “the man took the opportunity to take up residence in the apartment.” He began to live in the apartment against the wishes of the owner and would allegedly rape his elderly host each night.

It is unknown how long the Senegalese national resided in the apartment, but insiders told local media the victim had become frightened and “no longer knew how to get out of this bad move and put an end to her ordeal.”

It was only when a community nurse came to the apartment and was surprised to see the man living at the premises that the alarm was rung and the victim’s relatives were informed.

The elderly woman was escorted to the central police station in Marseille by her daughter to inform the police, who subsequently visited the apartment and arrested the suspect.

The victim was taken to the hospital for examination.

Further investigation into the suspect revealed he has been living in France illegally, although the Marseille prosecutor’s office refused to offer any further comment on the case at this stage.

India: Muslim students in Jamia Millia Islamia University intimidate, threaten other students against celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi on the campus, raise Allah-hu-Akbar slogans

Some Muslim students of the Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMIU) reportedly created a ruckus and opposed the celebration of the Hindu festival of Holi on the campus. The incident allegedly occurred on March 1, 2023, during an event named ‘Rangotsav’ organised by the university’s YUVA chapter, to celebrate the upcoming Hindu festival on campus. Holi will be observed on March 8 this year.

Twitter user Jatin Jain shared a thread of tweets on Thursday, March 3, with snippets from the varsity’s campus where a group of students were seen threatening and intimidating their peers against celebrating the festival on the premises. The user also shared a screenshot of an Instagram story posted by a Muslim student of JMIU where he instigates Muslims against Hindus and forbids them from participating in the Hindu festivals.

The first video, posted by Twitter user Jatin Jain, shows a student who appears to be the group leader telling other students not to play Holi. He criticises the varsity proctor for permitting the Hindu festival to be celebrated on campus. The student, who is dressed in a black kurta pyjama set and a grey jacket, displays his wrath against the administration by referring to the proctor as a ‘Hijara’ (eunuch). He threatens the students as Holi revellers rejoice. He threatens the group of students who were celebrating Holi on the campus of the university.

In his subsequent tweet, Jatin Jain (@NijVaani2019) tweeted a screenshot of the Instagram story of a Muslim student of the University, going by the handle ‘dayar.e.shauq’, who instigates Muslims against Hindus and prevents them from partaking in the Hindu festivities.

Referring to a YUVA Jamia Millia Islamia poster inviting students to ‘Ragotsav,’ an event organised to celebrate the Holi festival on March 1, 2023, the student wrote, “Sahih Hadiths suggest that it is not allowed to participate in the festivals of disbelievers. When Hindus in India are oppressing Muslims and burning them alive just because they eat beef, still you’d want to “celebrate” it with them?”

Screenshot of the Instagram story posted by JMIU student dayar.e.shauq

OpIndia also obtained other similar messages in which other Muslim students discouraged other students of their community from participating in the Hindu festival.

In another video shared by Jatin Jain, Muslim students of the university opposing the celebration of Holi on the campus are heard raising “Naara-e-Takbeer, Allah-hu-Akbar,” slogans.

Celebrating Hindu festivals is considered Haram in Islam and Islamists have for long opposed and perpetuated violence during every Hindu festival. Be it the Hindu religious processions for Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, Navratri, or Saraswati Puja, Islamists have never missed an opportunity to create disturbances. In fact, several incidents of stone-pelting, arson, and vandalism are documented each year, but what is concerning is how these vicious attacks on Hindus are increasing in both number and intensity with each passing year. Last year, OpIndia chronicled a list of incidents where Islamists displayed Hinduphobia during the festival of Holi. We also compiled a list of attacks carried out by Islamists against Hindu processions from 2019 to 2022.
