It was bound to happen sooner or later. The only surprise is that it did not happen here. A Scottish man who also identifies as a woman recently made two court appearances apparently on the same day. He faced charges as each gender. Stay with me here; this gets a little complicated. You may want to take notes. On second thought, maybe not. You may want to forget all about this as soon as you finish reading it.

Fifty-year-old Alan/Alannah Morgan, who the Scottish Sun refers to as a flasher, no less, was recently in court and was given a sentence of three months of “Restricted Liberty.”

Scotland is known for Macbeth, haggis, broadswords, castles, “Scotland the Brave” played on bagpipes, kilts, Braveheart, and lake monsters. In fact, two lake monsters, Nessie and Morag. What happened, Scotland? You used to be cool. Actually, Scotland has been trending downward to wokeness for a long time now, so a comedy routine such as this was more or less inevitable.

All right, are you ready? Let’s try to sort this out. Then, it is drinks for everybody! Trust me, you’re going to need one. Or three.

Appearing as Alannah, Morgan admitted to acting in a “threatening or abusive manner” at Happyhillock Road because he screamed and hit a floor. No, really. That occurred in February of last year. In the same complaint, Alannah also had a knife and verbally abused another person in April. That same month, Alannah also indulged in abusive behavior. This consisted of shouting incoherently, throwing slices of pizza around a public street, and urinating in public.

Hang on, we’re not done.

As Alan, Morgan “was charged with acting in a threatening or abusive manner and adopting an aggressive demeanour while making derogatory remarks to police in the city’s Brewery Lane on 3 January this year.” The Sunsays he was already subject to an “anti-social behaviour order.”

No kidding.

In March 2022 Alan also threw a skateboard around a public street, kicked garbage cans, shouted, swore, and made offensive remarks to police. Once he arrived at the clink, Morgan began spitting and pulling his pants down to exhibit his nether regions. His lawyer told the court that Morgan has health issues that make him unsuitable for community service and asked that he be given a pass on a jail sentence because he/she/it was extremely distressed at the thought of doing time. Most people are. He ended up sentenced to a version of house arrest. He has to stay indoors from 7 at night until 7 in the morning every day.

So this is where Scotland is, and for that matter, where we are as well. Morgan may have some very serious mental health issues, and even if jail is not the answer, someone with this level of disconnect needs serious supervision.

On the other hand, Morgan may well be an immature, entitled jerk and a career low-level criminal cum delinquent who has figured out how to work the system. And he realizes that by playing the transgender card and playing fast and loose with his pronouns, he can try for an extra layer of immunity when it comes to facing the music.

Either way, this is coming to a courtroom near you sometime, if it hasn’t already. We already have male offenders identifying as women to change their incarceration locales. Dual trials can’t be that far off.

The Kerala High Court last week dismissed a review petition filed by a man challenging the divorce granted to his wife under the Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act,1939, holding that a Muslim woman has the absolute right to dissolve her marriage at will and does not need her husband’s consent for it.

“We declared that the right of a Muslim wife to terminate the marriage at her request is an absolute right conferred on her by the Quran and is not subject to the acceptance or will of her husband,” said the Kerala High Court division bench of Justices A Muhamed Mustaque and CD Dias.

In a recent order, the court stated that Muslim women have the extra-judicial choice of ending their marriage “unilaterally,” and that the husband’s petition against the divorce was not “innocuous” and appeared to have been filed at the request of “Muslim clerics and hegemonic masculinity.”

The court stated that a Khula is valid if certain conditions are met. The wife’s declaration of repudiation or termination of the marriage, an offer to return her dower or any other material gain received during her marriage, and that before the declaration of the Khula, an effective attempt at reconciliation was made.

According to the review petition, if a Muslim wife wants to end her marriage with her husband, she must first demand talaq from him, and if he refuses, then she can go to court or the Qazi.

According to the ruling, the petitioner had argued that no Muslim wife is “allowed to unilaterally terminate the marriage” anywhere in the world, and the court is also “not competent to decide on religious beliefs and practices and should follow the opinion of Islamic scholars.”

However, the division bench of Mustaque and Dias ruled that it cannot rely on Islamic clergy who have no legal training or knowledge of legal sciences to decide a point of law.

“The courts are manned by trained legal minds. “The court shall not submit to the opinions of Islamic clergy who have no legal training on the subject of law,” the ruling stated.

It went on to say that the Kerala High Court had relied on Chapter II, verse 229 of the Quran, where the right of a Muslim wife is explicitly mentioned, and that this “legal conundrum” is not unique, but has evolved over time.

To no surprise, the Kerala High Court judgment did not go well with the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). On Thursday AIMPLB asserted that a Muslim woman does not have the unilateral right to end her marriage through Khula. According to the Board, the husband has the right of accepting or rejecting her demand for Khula.

The Board stated in a statement that “Khula is reliant on both husband and wife agreeing to end the marriage after a woman initiates the proposal. If the husband does not agree to Khula, the wife has the right to seek faskh or judicial divorce,” AIMPLB general secretary Khalid Saifullah Rehmani stated.

The Board accused the court of going beyond its brief. “The court was supposed to make a decision based on the Shariah Application Act of 1937.” Unfortunately, the court appeared to go beyond its brief on legal interpretation. The court does not have the authority to add to or alter the law.”

According to Rehmani, a Muslim marriage can be ended in three ways: Talaq, which is pronounced by a man, Khula, which is initiated by a woman, and Faskh, which is judicial divorce.

In the ongoing Talaq-e-Hassan case, the Supreme Court rendered an oral observation juxtaposing Khula and Talaq-e-Hassan, stating that just as a woman has a unilateral right to Khula, so does a man have a unilateral right to Talaq-e-Hassan.

The AIMPLB, on the other hand, insists that in the case of Khula, which is an option of divorce available at the behest a Muslim woman, the man has the final say.

A poll has suggested as many as 83 per cent of Austrians believe that all of the country’s politicians are corrupt as the various scandals mount for the ruling Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP).

Pollster Christoph Haselmayer of the Institute for Demoscopy and Data Analysis (IFDD) stated that an overwhelming majority of Austrian believe all of the country’s politicians are corrupt saying that the attitude may help the ruling ÖVP, which is currently mired in several scandals.

Haselmayer added that just a third of Austrians believed that Austrian politicians were more corrupt than politicians from other European Union member states, however, the tabloid Kronen Zeitung reports.

The data comes as the centre-right ÖVP and their coalition government with the Greens face a crisis following a multi-year probe into corruption linked to former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.

Much of the probe revolves around Thomas Schmid, a close confidant of the former Chancellor, who has become a witness for corruption allegations levelled at dozens of officials.

Phone messages leaked from Schmid for a probe by the state economic crime and corruption prosecutor (WKStA) even led to the resignation of Kurz as Chancellor last year in October.

As a result of the ongoing corruption allegations, the ÖVP has lost nearly half of their prior support with a survey by the IFDD putting the party in third place nationally, behind the Social Democrats and the populist Freedom Party.

The current leader of the ÖVP, Chancellor Karl Nehammer, has attempted to distance himself from the corruption allegations, but according to an August report from Politico, Nehammer became the least popular head of government in the world.

The news outlet claimed that the party was not just facing a crisis at the top but possibly an existential crisis and the party saw an almost ten per cent decrease in votes in the Tyrol regional election in September, but still managed to win the election with 34.7 per cent of the vote.

An Eritrean national seeking asylum in the United Kingdom was jailed for nine years on Thursday for the rape of a drunken woman on a night out in Wigan.

Bolton Crown Court heard how the 37-year-old female victim had been socializing in the Wigan town center during the early hours of Dec. 18 when she became separated from her friends.

She was approached by 27-year-old Eritrean national, Ablolom Okbazge, who had visited a friend in Wigan. He discovered the woman in a “heavily intoxicated state” walking down the street, and CCTV footage showed that he changed direction to speak to her.

The court heard how Okbazge exploited his “paralytic” victim’s condition to lure her down a side alley off King Street to a secluded fire escape before subjecting her to an hour-long sexual assault.

Following the attack, the woman was walked to a taxi and was driven home. The taxi driver revealed the victim had been so intoxicated that she attempted to pay for the fare twice upon reaching her destination. The following day, she told her sister that she believed she had been raped.

Okbazge had been living at the Britannia Hotel in Standish, which had been housing asylum seekers under a government scheme. He was arrested by police at the hotel the following day and was remanded into custody until his trial.

In a victim impact statement, the 37-year-old rape victim told the court: “What happened to me will live with me for the rest of my life. I burst into tears regularly, especially when I think about what happened.

“It’s always invading my daily life and sneaking into my head at some point every day — no matter how hard I try to stop it.”

Detective Constable Ray Williams of Greater Manchester Police’s Wigan division said: “This has been a very traumatic ordeal for the victim from the moment she was approached in the street and led into an alleyway by Ablolom Okbazge, right up to the present day. What Okbazge did that day is likely to affect the victim for the rest of her life, and the trauma will not simply go away just because the court process has concluded.

“I would like to thank the victim for her resilience and bravery in reporting this incident to the police and giving us the opportunity to put a dangerous man in prison. I believe that because of her bravery, this has prevented the same thing from happening to somebody else,” he added.

While Okbazge is expected to be deported upon release, the court heard there could be delays to this if his deportation is contested, as has been seen with numerous other foreign national criminals using European human rights legislation to remain in Britain.

The Britannia Hotel in Standish had been the subject of fierce debate in the months leading up to this attack, with parents of school children in the village north of Wigan telling local media they were keeping their daughters inside due to concern over the behavior of a number of asylum seekers being housed in the nearby facility.

The local secondary school had even sent out a mass text message to parents in September last year titled “Stranger Danger Alert” in which they advised parents not to allow their children to travel alone.

Some of the adult men at the facility were accused of filming girls’ PE lessons, winking, and commenting on teenagers as they walked home from school; on one occasion, a 12-year-old was surrounded and filmed by the men.

Even the local Labour MP Lisa Nandy intervened and criticized the hotel’s use as a migrant facility, insisting it was entirely inappropriate and had been block-booked by Serco, a Home Office contractor, without any prior warning to locals.

These incidents are not in isolation. Just on Thursday, it was revealed a teenage boy was raped at a hotel housing asylum seekers in the London borough of Waltham Forest last month.

At the same facility in September, a male claiming to be aged 17 was arrested and charged with one count of sexual touching of a child under 13.

Residents local to hotels being used by the Home Office to accommodate asylum seekers have been expressing concern about their safety over claims that “gangs” of adult males were forming in their local areas and intimidating residents.

A local council in Derbyshire has written to the Home Office questioning the appropriateness of housing asylum seekers in a hotel in the small town of Sandiacre after reports of a group of asylum seekers causing a disturbance at the local dentist surgery and using nearby parks and woods as toilets.

Climate activists threw vegetable soup on Van Gogh’s The Sower in Rome’s Palazzo Bonaparte museum on Friday.
    The Ultima Generazione (Last Generation) action follows them gluing themselves to Botticelli’s Spring in the Uffizi in Florence and similar assaults on art works by other climate militants like the UK-based Just Stop Oil which hurled tomato soup at Van Gogh’s Sunflowers at the National Gallery in London.
    Letzte Generation members threw mashed potatoes at a Monet landscape at the Museum Barberini in Potsdam, Germany, and a Belgian demonstrator attempted to glue his head to Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring at the Mauritshuis in the Hague.
    This latest action to raise awareness on the climate fight involved three female members of Ultima Generazione.
    As in the other attacks, The Sower was not damaged because it is behind glass,the head of the exhibition’s organising company told ANSA.
“We were expecting it, (there has been) no damage but it is a useless gesture,” said Arthemisia President and Managing Director Iole Siena.
“We had been expecting it even before the show opened, and we had had several meetings with Carabinieri and museum chiefs.
“We stopped everyone from bringing in bags and backpacks and for that reason they could only do very little.” Iole went on: “When the protesters got up close to the work one of them took out a little tin can she had hidden down her trousers.
“Nothing bad happened to the picture and the girls then glued themselves to the wall under the painting with superglue. We didn’t even close the show, but only the room, because the restorer had to assess possible damage. The frame will have to be cleaned, and the room will probably reopen this evening.
“These are demonstrative stunts that I condemn with the greatest severity, even though they are useless gestures. They even told the media they were going to do it.
“Luckily up till now they have only targeted works protected by glass but some copycat might emulate them with unprotected works and cause serious damage. These are blatant stunts that don’t achieve anything and damage themselves in the collective consciousness”.
The three female climate activists threw vegetable soup on the work before gluing themselves to the wall and shouting slogans against the use of carbon fuels and about the existential threat posed by climate change.
The Sower is on loan from the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Dutch town of Otterlo for an exhibition of Van Gogh works in the former Napoleonic residence in the Italian capital.
The three young women who carried out the attack are set to be cited for damaging the cultural patrimony.

Greta Thunberg is no longer a child. She is a 19-year-old adult and now agitating for the overthrow of capitalism in order to save the planet from climate change.

Her publication “The Climate Book” calls for a systemic transformation, arguing that the present capitalist rules of the game have led to the supposed breakdown of the climate. 

She blames capitalism for exploiting people and the planet.

Thunberg says that capitalism is a system defined by colonialism, imperialism, oppression, and genocide in which the North of the globe amasses riches and dominates the world order. She believes economic growth is to blame for climate change and that the climate crisis is rooted in racism and exploitation. 

All is now clear. Greta’s whole mission of fighting climate change is just another embodiment of Marxism looking for a revolutionary transformation of the world. Once again, the objective is the creation of a new man who, freed of oppression, will live in paradise on earth. Utopia writ large.

This is why we need to take care, as every time this is tried it ends in the use of force, often leading to millions of victims. 

The belief that the world needs to be improved and capitalism must be overthrown, a system that has proven effective in eliminating hunger, advanced the living standards, and boosted know-how, is a repeat of Bolshevikmadness.

We can only hope that this time around we will not allow ourselves to be manipulated by a new generation looking to eliminate “the enemies of the people.” Capitalism is about freedom. Its elimination would mean hunger and death.
