London’s Globe Theater presents a ‘trans-positive’ version of Joan of Arc

Comedy or tragedy? What would The Bard think?

The Globe Theatre in London, a purportedly faithful reconstruction of the Elizabethan Era playhouse where William Shakespeare’s plays were first presented, recently tweeted a video clip from its current production of the trans positive play I, Joan. The play is essentially a counterfactual, propagandistic transgender version of Joan of Arc. The Globe quickly deleted the tweet after it was rightfully subjected to much ridicule but did not at first take down a YouTube clip of the prologue from I, Joan. But it is now unavailable.

If you had watched the YouTube clip when it was available, you would have seen that the play opens with actress Isabel Thom (who specifies her pronouns as “they/them” on her Twitter page) stating: “Trans people are sacred. We are the divine. We are practicing our divinity by expressing authenticity. By enjoying our multiplicity. Elevating our humanity, finding the unity hidden inside community, remembering our collective connectivity fuels courageous creativity, unlocking the blessed spirituality that we all seek. Yeah, this s**t’s about to get spiritual.”

“Finding the unity hidden inside community, remembering our collective connectivity?” Did Thom (they/them) attend the Kamala Harris School of Public Speaking? The narcissism of the more militant members of the LGBTQIIA+ community is breathtaking. And off-putting to say the very least.

Rejecting and defacing God’s design is anything but divine. Engaging in chemical castration, the lopping off of body parts, and causing or celebrating the permanent sterilization of young people is neither “spiritual” nor “divine.”

Holding oneself/theyselves up to be special, somehow above the rest of us boringly heterosexual mere mortals is disingenuous, depraved, and despicable.

As happens so often with the tragically woke, Thom’s alleged attempt to get serious or “spiritual” is completely derailed by use of inappropriate, derogatory, or profane language. “This s**t’s about to get spiritual?” Really? (Methinks “they” doth profess too much.)

If I were to take a page from the Playbook of the Perpetually Oppressed, I would say, as a non-trans person, Thom comes off as The Merchant of Menace. I don’t feel safe when I hear the words she/they spoke. In my opinion, she/they is one/or more shrew/or shrews that should be tamed.  

If I, Joan, the play, never saw a “Twelfth Night,” I would say: “All’s Well That Ends Well.”

Switzerland will not hand over frozen Russian assets to Kiev

Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the West has said goodbye to a central pillar of its value system: legal certainty.

All over the EU and the US, bank balances and other property belonging to Russian owners have been confiscated for months because they appear on Western sanctions lists. This is a gross breach of the law.

Switzerland has shown that there is another way and that neutrality is not just an empty word. For the second time, the Confederates have opposed a request by the Ukrainian President Zelensky to transfer frozen bank balances of Russian owners to Ukraine without further ado.

Zelensky recently asked Switzerland again to transfer funds from wealthy Russians and reserves of the Russian central bank blocked in Switzerland to Ukraine. There was again a clear no from the Confederates.

The reason: the assets of Russians worth 6,7 billion Swiss francs (6,9 billion euros) and a total of 15 properties that are affected have not been confiscated, but only frozen. This means that the owners currently have no access to their assets, but they still own them.

According to the Swiss daily Blick, Fabian Maienfisch, deputy spokesman for the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs in the Bern government, told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti that “compared to freezing assets, the seizure of assets is a “major encroachment on the security of property and other basic constitutional rights”. It is not too late “to prevent a right-wing extremist head of government Giorgia Meloni in Italy”. There should be “no EPP involvement in a far-right government in Italy”. Otherwise, Forza Italia should not have a future in the EPP.

EPP chairman, the German CSU politician Weber, is now being approached by Barley, Freund and Körner: Meloni represents “right-wing populist positions that are not compatible with basic European values, that openly call for discrimination against people and that deny the most atrocious crimes in European history”. Italy must not become a precedent for Europe and “even more right-wing extremist parties in their striving for power make pacts with conservative forces”.

In response to this pressure, Meloni has been calling for “attacks on Putin“.

John Cleese joins GB News, presenting show on cancel culture

John Cleese is to present a new show on GB News next year with stand-up and existing GB News presenter and producer Andrew Doyle, discussing cancel culture, wokeness and politics.

Speaking on Radio 4‘s Today programme this morning, the Monty Python star admitted he hadn’t heard of the channel when he was approached.

“I don’t know much about modern television because I’d pretty much given up on it – I mean English television,” he told presenter Amol Rajan. “Then I met one or two of the people concerned and I had a dinner with them and liked them very much. People say it’s a right-wing channel; it’s a free speech channel.”

Cleese, who described himself as an “old-fashioned liberal”, continued: “The nice thing about talking to the GB News audience is that they may not be used to hearing the sort of things I’ll be saying…

“The BBC have not come to me and said, ‘Would you like to have some one-hour shows?’ and if they did, I would say, ‘Not on your nelly!’ I wouldn’t get five minutes into the first show before I’d been cancelled or censored.”

Earlier this year, the 82-year-old described cancel culture as a “tragedy”, telling attendees at the FreedomFest conference in Las Vegas, where he was keynote speaker, that comedians didn’t have the freedom to be funny anymore and that comedy films were now “aimed at young men because they’re the ones who go to the cinema on Friday night”.

In November, Cleese cancelled his own appearance at Cambridge University after a visiting speaker was banned for making a Hitler impression, saying that he was “blacklisting myself before someone else does” and urging organisers to “find a venue where woke rules do not apply”.

Luxembourg: Moroccan arrested for beheading a woman

A 48-year-old man arrested on Thursday is accused of the murder of Diana, whose dismembered body was found in Mont-Saint-Martin.

Disabled boy savagely beaten by thug gang outside French school in viral footage

Four high school students have admitted to the harassment and assault of a 16-year-old disabled boy outside a school in Saint-Maximin, France.

Distressing footage of the attack, believed to have taken place on Monday, Oct. 3, was posted to social media and has been viewed over 1 million times, prompting several politicians to intervene and call for action.

The victim, Rudy, is a student at the Lycée Professionnel Donation Robert et Nelly de Rothschild in neighboring Creil, and the attackers are his fellow students, according to the local public prosector.

The footage shows four young males punching and kicking Rudy as he is pinned to a metal fence, while the attack is filmed by a fifth individual.

Following the opening of an investigation by the Chantilly brigade of gendarmes, the local public prosecutor, Loïc Abrial, confirmed in a press release that “the minor, accompanied by his mother, told investigators that he had suffered violence from several other young people, twice, on October 3, 2022, near the school.”

Five suspects were arrested on Thursday . One suspect was later released, while four admitted to their involvement in the attack, claiming they were responding to provocation after allegedly being racially insulted by the victim.

The suggestion of racist provocation was roundly rejected by the victim’s mother who said on Friday: “It’s amazing when you know the environment in which Rudy lives, it absolutely does not hold up,” she said, as reported by Oise Weekly. The teenager’s sisters are mixed-race, she went on to explain.

“For us, what is very concrete are the repeated blows he receives because he refuses to give cigarettes, or because he makes a word or a look in the wrong direction,” she told the publication.

Damien Rieu of Ériz Zemmour’s Reconquest party, shared the footage on his social media, claiming Rudy was beaten up “because he is disabled.” He slammed the school for not intervening after the victim’s mother alerted staff of previous incidents between her son and his fellow students.

The footage was also commented on by Marion Maréchal, the niece of nationalist firebrand Marine Le Pen, who called the footage “unbearable.”

“Rudy, a student at a high school in Creil (Oise), has been harassed and beaten up for days because he is disabled,” she wrote, adding a message for French Education Minister Pap Ndiaye: “Here is the priority for our schools; it’s time to put it back in order. Take action!”

Ndiaye responded in kind to the news, tweeting on Thursday that he was “deeply shocked by the attacks on young Rudy.

“This violence must be strongly condemned. An investigation has been opened by the prosecution, and the necessary disciplinary procedures will be initiated without delay,” he added.

Bradford: Police charge 24th man in child sex abuse inquiry

Detectives investigating allegations of historic child sexual abuse in Bradford have charged another man, bringing the total number to 24.

The offences, including rape and child prostitution, are said to have taken place between 2007 and 2011 and involve one victim.

West Yorkshire Police said 23 men have already appeared in court.

Omar Taj, 35, from Bradford, is due before Bradford Magistrates’ Court later charged with rape.
