40 criminal Afghans hijacked evacuation plane to Germany

Forty criminals from Afghanistan arrived in Germany last August on board evacuation planes from Kabul. This was reported by the news magazine “Focus”, citing internal reports for the Bundestag enquiry committee investigating the chaotic withdrawal of soldiers, diplomats and local Afghan forces from the Central Asian country.

The criminal Afghans were only identified after landing in Germany, according to “Focus”. Six men were wanted on German arrest warrants and immediately taken into custody. They are accused of rape, drug trafficking and supporting terrorist groups. The majority of the Afghans with criminal records had already been deported from Germany years ago, “Focus” further reports. They filed new applications for asylum as soon as they landed. According to the internal committee reports, the men are said to have used force to gain access to the evacuation planes at Kabul airport.

The German government is said to have paid the Taliban a high protection money for the rescue of about 100 Germans who were outside the airport premises last August, Focus reports, citing security circles in Berlin. With the help of the USA, a standstill agreement had been reached with the Islamist militias in order not to endanger the helicopter operations of the elite Bundeswehr unit Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK).

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence would neither confirm nor deny the payment of money when asked by “Focus”. “For reasons of operational security”, no statements were made about military action, they said.

Dutch police chief lambasted for ‘pride’ comments

Amsterdam was the scene of the Canal Parade on Saturday afternoon, a procession of about 80 boats. The boat parade traditionally attracts many visitors. The theme this year was “My Gender, My Pride”. The police, central government and the municipality of Amsterdam also had their own boat.

Chief of Police of the National Police Henk van Essen commented on Twitter : “Today the police are sailing along for Canal Pride. Because we believe that you should be able to be yourself, inside and outside the police. Regardless of your gender identity or sexual orientation. We are a police force of and for everyone. That is why the police are involved.”

In a matter of hours, hundreds of very negative reactions appeared in response. Van Essen received a lot of criticism. “I have seen severely aggressive riot police in front of me, ruthless. The elderly were beaten up before my eyes, simply because they were at a Corona demo,” said journalist Annelies Strikkers.

“For two and a half years I see that you are not the police for everyone, but only if you follow the government narrative,” she added.

FVD MEP Marcel de Graaff also strongly argued his point. “Stop this hypocritical nonsense. You make the police an extension of the political elite. Be of service to the people. Support freedom of demonstration. Support the farmers and the Corona protesters. You are violating human rights,” he said

“Gosh, shall we start by accepting that there are also people with different opinions and feelings about certain matters instead of terminating them with (punitive) dismissal (and having to file lawsuits about that)?” asked Dennis Spaanstra, spokesman of the Police for Freedom organisation.

Spanishtra was fired earlier this year for “serious dereliction of duty” because he had organized Corona demonstrations and openly criticized the police action during these demonstrations. “I was just a simple cop who wanted to fight injustice,” Spaanstra said. But he was told that “his freedom of expression was not unlimited”.

Independent researcher Frank Hoogerbeets also reacted critically. “Be yourself, unless you demonstrate peacefully against Corona measures. Then the police suddenly switch to illegal practices in which reports are not processed.”

“We have to adapt culturally”: In Tours, France, the management of the aquatic centre defends the burkini

You have to credit David Lagache for being honest. The director of Récréa, the company that runs the aquatic centre on behalf of the metropolis of Tours (Indre-et-Loire), has decided to allow the burkini in his pools. A position he explained in detail on Friday July 29 on the aquatic centre’s Facebook page. In his opinion, reports La Nouvelle République, the burkini affects “one to two people per week”, which he considers little compared to the “450,000 users welcomed each year”.

In his opinion, there are no hygiene problems with the burkini – an argument often made by opponents of the Islamic full-body suit. “The material is meant for swimming,” he explained, pointing out that “these suits are 100% Lycra and sometimes even from a brand that specialises in swimming.” He said there were no problems with allowing them in swimming pools, unlike swimming shorts: “Anyone can wear their shorts outside the pool and go straight to swimming wearing them, which is out of the question from a hygiene point of view.”

However, the argumentation of Récréa’s management is not limited to the hygienic aspect of the debate. According to David Lagache, it is also about attitudes towards the increasingly frequent wearing of the burkinis – and what this phenomenon entails. “We have to adapt culturally to our evolving society,” he simply asserts. Besides, he points out, “it is forbidden to ban burkinis unless there is a prefectural decree”. However, some prefects have tried and been rebuffed with their decisions.

“According to the current legal situation, the wearing of burkinis in swimming pools can neither be banned nor allowed for religious reasons,” confirms Tours Métropole, which explains that “only considerations of public order (hygiene, safety and disturbance of public order) can justify a ban”. Since no such problems have been reported in Tours, despite numerous letters from bathers to the management of Récréa and the city hall, the burkini can therefore be allowed in Tours furthermore.

Possible Islamist background – demand for clarification of homicide in Ludwigsburg, Germany

“What is behind the bloodshed in Asperg (“Tabitha case”) and Ludwigsburg (knife attack on a 79-year-old man), and why is information about them being withheld from the public?” asks Dr. Rainer Podeswa Member of the State Parliament (MdL), who is also responsible for the Ludwigsburg constituency.

The Eppingen MP has made a parliamentary question to the Ministry of the Interior. Among other things, the question is whether the 43-year-old Somali man suspected of committing the crime in Ludwigsburg is a rejected or recognised asylum seeker, and in what way the man has previously become known to the police. The police have refused to inform the press about this and also do not want to disclose the nationality of the 79-year-old victim. Similarly, the public is still waiting for answers in the Tabitha case about a 35-year-old Syrian man who is urgently suspected of the crime.

Dr. Rainer Podeswa asks whether this kind of information policy possibly results in more “protection of offenders” than protection of victims. He wants to know from Interior Minister Strobl what concrete considerations and justifications are used to weight the “personal rights” of the suspects against the public interest in information.

“In the “Tabitha case”, no confession can be expected from the suspect after three weeks that would justify the secrecy of ‘perpetrator knowledge’,” says Dr. Rainer Podeswa. “The public cannot be kept in the dark about such bloody deeds until an indictment or trial, otherwise only rumours will arise and trust in the state and its authorities will be unnecessarily undermined.”

Terror suspect arrested in Upper Austria: Moroccan came via the Balkan route

Double success in the fight against terror: The police were able to arrest a Moroccan terror suspect (36) on his return from Syria in Upper Austria. One of his accomplices was also arrested in Barcelona.

A 36-year-old Moroccan terror suspect has been arrested in Upper Austria. A spokesperson of the Ministry of the Interior confirmed corresponding media reports on Saturday. The arrest took place when the Syrian returnee wanted to leave the federal territory by train towards Germany, it said. An EU-wide arrest warrant from Spain had been issued for the suspected “foreign terrorist fighter”.

The Moroccan arrested in July 2022 was a resident of Spain and had left for Syria in 2014 to join an al-Qaida-linked group, the interior ministry said today (Saturday). He was accompanied by a 29-year-old Moroccan against whom no arrest warrant had been issued at the time. Now the second suspect has been arrested near Barcelona, it said. He is said to have travelled to Syria from Morocco in 2015. Both men are being investigated on suspicion of involvement in and support of terrorism.

“In the fight against international terrorist networks, close cooperation with our partners is essential. As the once again successful operation and the two arrests show, the State Protection and Intelligence Directorate is in the best possible position in this regard and will continue to act with all determination against these criminals. Because the fight against terror must not rest for a second – the police will continue to wage it with all consistency and severity,” said Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP).
