Dutch Farmers: Police Arrest Over 100, as Protestors Vow Continued Resistance Against EU Green Agenda

Over 100 people have been arrested by police in relation to demonstrations resisting EU green agenda plans that will see Dutch farmers lose their livelihoods.

Police in the Netherlands have reportedly arrested over 100 people in relation to protests against EU green agenda measures which will see up to 30 per cent of livestock farms in the country forced to close.

While described by the Dutch government as being part of an “unavoidable transition” towards Great Reset-style reforms mandated by bigwigs in Brussels, farmers in the country have been actively resisting the changes, blocking motorways and food distribution centres in the hopes of bringing authorities to heel.

According to a report by NOS News, police have responded to the demonstrations by cracking down on protesters, with over 100 people being arrested in relation to the anti-green agenda demonstrations in recent weeks, with hundreds more being handed fines for actions resisting the measures.

Perhaps more interestingly, the national broadcaster reported that around one-quarter of such arrests did not occur during the period when alleged offences supposedly took place, but after the events, with police taking the time to track down individual protesters, a number of whom end up being remanded in police custody for considerable periods of time.

News of the arrests follow on from violent incidents occurring between police and protesters, with law enforcement officials coming under fire for shooting at a boy, allegedly without sufficient justification, as well as beating protesters with batons at one demonstration in the country earlier this month.

Despite these police crackdowns, demonstrators in the country do not appear to be dissuaded from taking further actions against the government, with the farmer protest org Agractie calling on those in the country to ramp up the impact of demos.

“We have to persevere with our actions,” the organisation’s director, Erik Luiten, told those actively resisting the green agenda measures, aimed at reducing the amount of nitrogen pollution across the European Union.

“Whether that is a public-friendly one, as soon with the start of the Vuelta, or actions that are sharper, they have to take place,” he continued. “Sometimes with as little effort as possible, because we are all busy, but with a great effect.”

The organisation has called for farmers to block busy roads in the hopes that — even if demonstrators are only able to gather a few farmers — their protests could have a great impact on the country, and further bring attention to the state’s enforcement of the damaging green agenda measures.

Such a tactic mirrors that already being employed by many farmers, many of whom have dropped burning refuse and manure on motorways across the country in the hopes of disrupting life in the EU member state.

Police have come down hard on the practice, arresting many who have attempted the tactic across the country, with many suspected of taking part in the country arrested and held in custody for extended periods of time.

‘New enemies of the state’ – German NRW interior minister slaps worrying label on potential winter energy protests

The interior minister of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Herbert Reul (CDU), has warned of “new enemies of the state” related to possible winter protests over high energy prices.

https://communistcrimes.org/en/political-prisoners-german-democratic-republic

“You can already tell from those who are out there,” said Reul. “The protesters no longer talk about coronavirus or vaccination. But they are now misusing people’s worries and fears in other fields. (…) It’s almost something like new enemies of the state that are establishing themselves.”

The aggressive rhetoric may raise eyebrows, but has become par for the course as officials of the German government issue increasingly stark warnings about those who may choose to protest against the rising cost of living.

According to Reul, the security services in NRW, especially the police, are already preparing for possible violent demonstrations this winter, as he explained in an interview with German news outlet NTV. His words come on the heels of warnings from a slew of German officials claiming that “extremists” will infiltrate protests over inflation. The president of the Thuringian Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Stephan Kramer, said last week that there may a chance protesters try to overthrow the government.

“Mass protests and riots are just as conceivable as concrete acts of violence against things and people, as well as classic terrorism to overthrow it,” Kramer told ZDF. “In contrast, what we have experienced so far in the coronavirus pandemic, in the form of violent clashes on social networks but also the streets and squares, was likely more of a kids’ birthday party.”

Reul says the police are preparing, including equipping police stations in NRW with satellite phones and emergency fuel, which Raul says has already happened.

Reul also spoke of 40 fuel tanks with a total capacity of 40,000 liters, which are currently being distributed across the country. He said the fuel can be used anywhere where there is a need, with an eye to possible blackouts and large-scale power failures.

“Protests could escalate in winter”

In view of earlier protests against coronavirus measures, Reul is concerned that current crises could “intensify the occasions” for violent protests. Specifically, he mentioned the Russian war against Ukraine, rising energy and fuel prices and a “cold living room.”

Despite the very real threat posed by all of these scenarios, the NRW interior minister states that it all sows the seeds for “conspiracy theory narratives.”

Reul, like the country’s federal interior minister, Nancy Faeser, is attempting to tie right-wing ideology and protests against Covid-19 policies to any potential protests in the winter. While some on the right, such as the Alternative for Germany (AfD), have stressed that the government’s sanctions against Russia are the primary factor driving the current energy crisis, they have not advocated an “overthrow” of the government. Instead, they have stressed the need to restart the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, end energy sanctions against Russia, and push for a peaceful solution to end the war.

When winter comes, the security authorities should be well-prepared for violent protests, says the NRW interior minister. He also recommended to “keep your ears and eyes open, stay vigilant and alert” on the internet, explicitly naming Telegram, where groups have repeatedly coordinated their protests against government measures.

The government has been actively trying to ban Telegram and has promised to increase surveillance against those on the right.

‘Hunger stones’ once again exposed

The Hunger Stone from 1616 lies exposed on the Elbe River. Screenshot from YouTube

The situation in Europe continues to deteriorate. Due to the persistent drought, the water levels in numerous rivers and lakes are falling. Researchers have now rediscovered the “hunger stones” in some river beds. These warn of an impending emergency.

Centuries-old warning messages have reappeared in the dry river beds in Germany and neighbouring Czechia, several research teams reported. These rocks are known as “hunger stones”. When they lie exposed, they warn of a bad harvest, a lack of food or high prices.

In Pirna, in the district of Oberposta, on the right riverbank according to the city archives, a stone with the year 1115 existed but its location is no longer known.

In 1918, a hunger stone on the bed of the Elbe River, near Tetschen, became exposed during a period of low water coincident to the wartime famines of World War I. Similar hunger stones in the river were uncovered again during a drought in 2018 and most recently in 2022.

The hunger stone in the Elbe river, which flows from the mountains of Czechia through Germany to the North Sea, dates back to a drought in 1616 and can now be seen once again in the dry river bed. The warning reads: “If you see me, cry.”
