In Europe, the past never goes away, and that’s certainly true in Central and Eastern Europe. We’ve already heard about the openly Nazi brigades in the modern Ukraine army. Now, to make it worse, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany just touted as one of Ukraine’s greatest freedom fighters Stephan Bandera, who helped murder 800,000 Ukrainian Jews and 40,000-100,000 Poles. That didn’t surprise me at all. It’s what I expected.

From the start of Russia’s assault on Ukraine, I’ve been ambivalent. On the one hand, I was horrified as all people of conscience must be when they see a military power brutally attack an innocent civilian population. On the other hand, having some familiarity with both Ukrainian and Russian history, I knew that (a) this was a fight going back centuries, (b) that we had no business getting involved in a regional war, and (c) that I don’t have particularly warm feelings for either combatant.

Both Ukraine and the USSR behaved horribly during WWII, including allying with the Nazis. Ukraine was especially gleeful as it joined the Nazis in slaughtering Jews within its territory. It did so with such vigor that even the Nazis were shocked.

Nor does it matter to me that the current President of Ukraine is nominally Jewish. So were the Kapos in the concentration camps and George Soros. The worst antisemites in the world have been Jews (see, e.g., Karl Marx, whose father had him convert as a small boy, and who went on to bake antisemitism into the socialist cake).

That’s why I wasn’t at all surprised to read David P. Goldman’s article about Andrej Melnyk, who insisted during an interview with Germany’s Die Welt that Bandera was nothing more than a freedom fighter:

Germany’s leading center-right newspaper Die Welt posted a banner headline at the top of its page last Friday evening just before Shabbat came in here in New York: “[Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andrej] Melnyk’s statement trivializes the Holocaust.” In a radio interview last week, Melnyk compared Ukrainian Nazi leader Stephan Bandera to Robin Hood and vehemently denied—in the face of massive historical documentation—that Bandera had helped to murder 800,000 Ukrainian Jews during World War II. The Banderites also helped to murder between 40,000 and 100,000 Poles.

Melnyk said, “Not just for me, but for many, many Ukrainians, he personifies the freedom fighter… and of course a freedom fighter… There are now written laws for those who fight for freedom. Robin Hood is also respected by everyone, and he also did not work according to the law current at the time.”

The astonished German interviewer said, “And you admit that he and his men were involved in the murder of 800,000 Jews?”

“No, he was not involved,” said Melnyk

The interviewer protested, “But it was his army. That’s what his men did. There is no doubt about that.”

Melnyk retorted, “You say, ‘No doubt,’ but there is no evidence. He was not convicted.”

“There is no evidence that he killed Jews with his own hands, but his men did!” the interviewer insisted. “He ordered the murder of 100,000 civilians.”

“He did not give the order to exterminate Jews,” Melnyk continued.

The interviewer quoted leaflets distributed by Bandera to Ukrainians as the Germans marched in 1941: “People! You must know this. Muscovites (Russians), Poles, Ukrainians, Hungarians and Jews are your enemies. Destroy them! You must know this. Your Führer Stepan Bandera.”

Later, writes Goldman, the Ukrainian foreign ministry refused to repudiate Melnyk’s statements, merely saying that they represented his “personal opinion.”

The worst thing about all of this, adds Goldman, is how assiduously the Biden administration and the American media are ignoring this grotesque Holocaust denial. Even American Jewish organizations are refusing to address the subject.

Here’s the bottom line: Ukraine is the “good guy” right now and nobody dares reveal that it has, not just feet of clay, but most of its lower torso made of clay. Russia is not our friend but neither is Ukraine. Despite their Western gloss, their values are very different from ours and we blindly alienate one and fawn over the other at our peril.

When it comes to money, the EU is not very meticulous. While it sinks billions to advance its foreign policy into countries like the corrupt Ukraine, other vast sums are wasted internally. This is suggested by the latest report of the EU Court of Auditors in Luxembourg. The report is highly critical of the care-free attitude towards “consulting companies”.

In 2020 alone, Brussels spent an unbelievable 972 million euros on “good advice”.

From 2017 to 2019, the Commission spent €2,7 billion on consultancy services, according to the report. This included studies and research. More than 8000 consultancy contracts were concluded. The total has increased from €799 million in 2017 to €971 million in 2020.

François-Roger Cazala has been a member of the European Court of Auditors for France since 2020 and was jointly responsible for the report. He is quoted inGerman weekly Der Spiegel as saying: “External advice in itself can make sense if you steer and control it.” But that is exactly what the EU has failed to do, he added.

Since July 2020, the Commission has indeed had basic guidelines to organise the use of advisers. But the system has gaps. For example, the report mentioned the Directorate-General responsible for the environment. It transferred 20,8 million euros to a consultancy firm. When the EU programme in question moved to another authority, the same provider was awarded the contract again after the tender.

The auditors also drew attention to another problem: “If a consultant is too dependent on a public agency for his business, he will do anything to get a contract again and possibly even create problems with a view to a next contract,” Cazala warned.

Incidentally, the EU administration seems to be particularly insecure when it comes to foreign policy issues and resorts to external help here with striking frequency. Among the top ten bodies with the highest expenditure on external consultants from 2017 to 2019, the Directorates-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) stand out.

On balance, the billions spent on external consultants are not surprising. They are a trademark of EU Commission head Von der Leyen. Already during her time as Federal Defence Minister, she came under criticism because the consultancy fees had exploded under her leadership.

Christians continue to do the dirty work in relation to Islamic art. Manchester’s Salaam Festival, running from July 20-25, will take place in Manchester cathedral, among other venues.

Why a cathedral? Good question, considering that Islamic art is a death sentence for Muslims and non-Muslims alike if there’s a whiff of any depiction or suggestion of a depiction of Muhammad involved.

There are over 100 mosques in Manchester, so why the need to use a Christian cathedral as a venue? The festival involves singing from the first Pakistani female Grammy winner. We see all too often across the Islamic world that women and men are arrested and beaten for even daring to perform outside of a mosque, let alone with in its walls. Perhaps this is where Christianity is useful to rogue Muslims in the West: they can get away with doing things that they would be stoned to death for doing in their own lands.

St. Andrew’s church in Southwark, London, is a regular host to the Big Gay Iftar, the traditional Islamic evening meal which celebrates Ramadan during the month of Pride for gay Muslims.

Progress, for Muslims in the West, would appear to be being Muslim in Christian locations.

His name is Stephen Smith, he is a leftist but an all facts and no ideology scholar who inspired Emmanuel Macron. “We are facing an unprecedented migration phenomenon,” said Macron. A phenomenon that according to the French president is “described tremendously well” by Stephen Smith in his book Escape to Europe.

On the cover there is the dark night of the African continent and the illuminated one of the European Eldorado. The great “taboo” of our time, explained Smith to Le Figaro. A former analyst for the United Nations and the International Crisis Group, Smith was a correspondent from Africa for Libération and Le Monde – two left-wing newspapers – and now teaches in America at Duke University.

The title of Smith’s new article that appeared this week in Nouvelles de France is chilling: “What if Africa floods us?”. It is the greatest change in population, culture, religion, and society ever experienced in history.

“How many people of sub-Saharan origin – immigrants born south of the Sahara and their children – will live in France in 2050?”, writes Smith. No one can say precisely how many, as migrations from the south of the Sahara depend on unpredictable conditions, from the geopolitical situation to climate change, including the level of development that sub-Saharan Africa will reach. However, as long as we ask forward-looking questions to prepare for the future, orientation becomes possible. Because, given the weight of demographic trends, the recent past sheds light on the near future”.

Thirty years ago, sub-Saharan Africa had 490 million inhabitants and only 4 percent of immigrants to France came from the south of the Sahara. Since 1980, sub-Saharan immigration has been the most “dynamic” of all origins. Today, according to the National Statistics Institute, 18.3 percent of immigrants to France come from the south of the Sahara. Also according to the Institute, between 2008 and 2018, 800,000 sub-Saharanians were added to the population of foreign origin in France, with an increase of 68 percent for a total of 1.9 million inhabitants of sub-Saharan origin in France.

In thirty years, according to the projection made by the UN, sub-Saharan Africa will have more than 2 billion inhabitants. Of this number, four times higher than in 1990, the share of migrants leaving the African continent will continue to increase. In the 1970s, fewer than one in ten African migrants left Africa to settle in another part of the world; today, three out of ten change continents, half of them to come to Europe. By 2050, four to five in ten will seek a better life elsewhere, so the pool of potential migrants will quadruple.

Unless you are an unfailing Afro-pessimist, the rise in sub-Saharan immigration is the most plausible future scenario. “Because Sub-Saharan Africa will continue to improve its standard of living and, therefore, the number of people with sufficient means to migrate will increase” Smith explains.

“Currently, depending on the starting point, the savings needed to be able to leave for Europe are between 2,500 and 3,500 euros. A considerable figure in a part of the world where the annual per capita income is around 1,500 euros. But this threshold will be lowered. More and more sub-Saharanians will be able to afford it.

“Since the publication of Escape in Europe six years ago, the hierophants of demographics have made people believe that my book was science fiction fueled by political ulterior motives. To do this, they not only ignore the subtitle of the book (Young Africa traveling to the Old Continent) but they go so far as to deny the past. However, whether we welcome it or complain about it, the African race is part of the continuity, and France, like Theseus’ boat, continues to change composition.

“Today more than 2 million Sub-Saharanians live in France, most of them in Ile-de-France. A century ago, in 1926, according to official figures there were 2,580, of which 793 were in Paris,” Smith concludes.

Europe has only two choices: to allow itself to be flooded or to build a dam.

So was 37-year-old Emilie König. This young woman, who was portrayed as a recruiter for Daesh, had travelled to Syria in 2012. She had been blacklisted by the United Nations as a dangerous fighter. A 22-year-old Afghan national was arrested in Bordeaux shortly before 2pm on Friday July 1. He is accused of entering a bar where construction work was being carried out and then taking a blunt-tipped knife with which he tried to stab a worker, according to police sources. When the victim then ran away, the attacker chased him and tried to strike several passers-by with the stabbing weapon, shouting “Allah Akhbar”. There were no injuries. The Afghan national, who is in the country illegally, is unknown in the law enforcement database (TAJ). He was taken into police custody and an investigation was opened.

On the same day, another person entered the entrance hall of the police station of Avignon, a commune in the Vaucluse department, and shouted the same words: “Allah Akhbar” in front of the police officers at the reception. After the crime, the 35-year-old man was taken into police custody and subsequently questioned by investigators. According to the newspaper Le Dauphiné, his behaviour was taken all the more seriously by the law enforcement officers because the person is being monitored particularly closely: He is listed in the S file and is considered a radical Islamist. However, he is also known for his psychiatric problems and does not take his medication very conscientiously. The case was closed without further action at the request of the representative of the public prosecutor’s office.

More than €220,000 in taxpayer money was sent to “Drag Queen” projects connected to the EU youth program Erasmus+, according to research shown by German MEP Nikolaus Fest, who belongs to the conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

Although it represents only a small portion of the multibillion budget for Erasmus+, which provides funding and support to youth education, sport, and cultural exchange, the money seems to point to a broad ideological shift on LGBT issues within the EU.

The EU money has been disbursed for different “drag” groups, often associated with pro-transgender views. For example, public records show that a “Drag It Up” workshop by the Berlin group Critical Queer Solidarity received €21,797 in taxpayer money. In November 2021, the group hosted the “Drag It Up” seminar, which the EU describes as a “youth exchange” in Berlin with 38 participants aged between 18 and 30.

The group featured an explicit photo on its Instagram page to promote the youth event, and on the event’s “about page,” the organization writes, “We will watch drag shows in Berlin, learn from some of Berlin‘s best drag performers – and get to know their approach.”

The European Commission grant website described the “Drag It Up” event as “increasing the self-confidence of young queer people” and to “create a safer space for queer youth from around Europe to be themselves, both at the youth exchange and in their daily lives after the project.”

Erasmus+, which funded the project, is the same organization that recently proclaimed that the “future is queer” on Twitter.

Additionally, the EU describes how “the participants will learn and experience theater, dance and performance, but also makeup, wigs, walking in high heels and other methods of blurring and exaggerating traditional binary gender roles.”

Similar events also received tens of thousands of euros, including “What’s Masc” in Oldenburg, which on the EU grant website states that participants “will get to know the queer scene in Berlin by interacting with sexual health activists and drag artists and they will learn about how to deal with toxic masculinity, but also how to foster positive and constructive approaches to masculinity and gender expression in their everyday lives.”

For the “TransYouth,” event marketed to children, which received €28,000., organizers state the event will “offer space for expression for participants by organizing [a] drag queen show and workshops accepting and facing emotions through theater education. We will make a Drag Queen Show first just for participants and if they feel comfortable enough, they can repeat it also in the city centre as an awareness raising activity. The idea behind this is to promote creativity and make it a fun experience for all to see themselves transformed into their alter egos.”

The EU also subsidized the “Beyond Gender Summer Camp” near Göttingen with €62,690, where 75 participants, namely “trans*, inter*, non-binary and gender-questioning young people” attended a one-week camp. The EU Commission offered nearly €40,000 euros in tax money for the project “EUROPE – identities under (trans)formation: GENDER*X,” which took place in Salzburg.

In Spain and Slovenia, Erasmus+ also supports various “Drag Queen” and LGBTQ projects. The EU paid €24,597 to the LGBTQ group “Dragtivism” for seminars in Barcelona and Girona and €21,770 to the Slovenian “United with Pride” project, which also featured drag acts.
