Netherlands: 27-year-old woman raped in the street in broad daylight, police release photo of suspect
A 27-year-old woman was raped on Stadhouderslaan in Leiden on Monday June 13, police report, releasing pictures of the suspect.
At around 1.45 pm, the woman was pushed to the ground and raped near the Schelpenkade, police said.

Police on Wednesday arrested a minor suspect from Voorschoten who is suspected of raping a 27-year-old woman in broad daylight in Leiden.

The pictures distributed by the police showed a black man sitting on his bicycle.
The 27-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and raped near Schelpenkade at a quarter to two in the afternoon on Monday June 13. The man fled after his crime when the woman called for help. Witnesses saw him flee in the direction of Drie Octoberstaat, where his bicycle was located.
Residents of Stadhouderslaan in Leiden are still shocked by the rape, which was committed in broad daylight in their neighbourhood. “Nothing ever happens here,” said one shocked resident. “It seems to be a quiet neighbourhood, but often there are some shady guys at our door”.
Dozens of graves destroyed at the Jewish cemetery in Istanbul
Vandals destroyed three dozen gravestones at a Jewish cemetery in Istanbul, according to the Turkish Chief Rabbinate Foundation.
“Our Hasköy cemetery was [broken into] at midnight and 36 of our gravestones were destroyed,” the Turkish Jewish Community announced on Twitter.
“The matter has been forwarded to the relevant authorities with all pictures and night footage and we expect the perpetrators of this vandalism to be caught as soon as possible.”
The government condemned the incident by a spokesman for Turkey’s president, Turkish Jewish news site Salom reported .
“The relevant authorities have taken measures to track down the perpetrators. We will never allow those who attack sacred values and try to spread chaos and hostility in our society,” the spokesman said.

What is it that today’s progressive left envisions when they dream of fuzzy utopian ambitions like the “end of history”? A couple of core pretensions emerge. History’s arc will have been bent toward justice, and the unfettered autonomy of the individual will usher in ultimate freedom. How does any of that actually manifest itself? The leftist clergy of elites and intellectual experts will preside because non-credentialed folk can barely find their own pay grade. That is what so angers the left in the reversal of Roe or the affirmation of the 2nd Amendment. The country class won.
To wax in sync with the left’s donnée has an allure. It is lofty and soaring to talk about protest, martyrdom, ultimate freedom, ginormous arcs, history’s end, and Justice! The unfortunate title of a favorite pop album of mine is “Who Speaks for the Planet Earth?” What self-importance. One tingles at the rush of such empty validations. Jesus opined simply on this subject in Matthew 6:7: “they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”
The allure to intone the smugness of their “extra big” hearts is only part of it, though. Leftists are also impatient in their eschatological dreaming. They are drawn to theatrics as a release. At best, it’s let’s go, pussy hats. At worst, it’s burn, baby, burn or shoot a Supreme Court justice. The leftist’s impatience assumes the impossible outcome of a finished, well oiled planet. Humanity’s infinite variations are all magically accounted for in perfect harmony, like a Super Bowl Coke commercial. Just close the churches, empty the prisons, and let prisoner and parishioner hug each other. It’s John Lennon’s “Imagine,” unbound as the shackles of oppression fall off and we can love thy neighbor’s life partner without consequence and the pedophile shall lie down with the child.
Be honest. Is there a shred of viability to such a queasy end of history? Leftists dare not pursue the question lurking beneath. Do they really want history to end? Their “much speaking” has no interest in history ending. Someone will always want to speak for the planet. When was the last time the smartest man in the room shut up? Then, too, establishing true justice would be to banish their lifeblood, which is “peaceful” protest. And what to say about the idea of unfettered personal autonomy? Is that not simply a fancy sobriquet for no-fault degeneracy?
In the last analysis, everybody gets what he wants until he doesn’t. The left’s tragic flaw is God with a small (g). But God’s power is that he created, knows, and wields all information — even “the mis” and “the dis.” He is never self-absorbed or surprised. His leftist children here in mortality haven’t the least clue about temporal mechanics, let alone endorse celestial ones.
So pick, say, the arc of history and bend it to actually touch justice. In the end, we will find we still need a jury. And what if the verdict is unsatisfactory?
My home town had a small, no-frills moving company. Their unofficial slogan was, “If it don’t fit, force it.”
BRICS expansion on the cards
More and more emerging countries are considering joining the BRICS group, which is seen as the major emerging countries’ counterweight to the US-led West and the G7. Especially in times like these, this is also a clear signal to Washington.
The BRICS group of states, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, are working ever more closely together on an economic and political level. Together they represent 3,26 billion people and a gross domestic product of US$27,54 trillion. According to estimates, the economic output of these five countries will account for 50 percent of total global value added by 2030.
In view of the fact that “rules-based” Western countries are experiencing serious economic problems, this prognosis does not even seem that far-fetched.
In contrast to the G7 group, the representatives of the US-led collective West, the BRICS group sees itself as an open organization that does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. It is therefore not surprising that membership in this group of states also arouses the interest of diverse nations.
In particular, those states that have their own problems and conflicts with the United States seem to be most interested. Argentina and Iran, for example, announced their intention to become part of the group of states. And Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates have recently expressed interest in becoming members.
The list does not end there as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey also plan to join BRICS , the President of the International BRICS Forum Purnima Anand confirmed to Russian outlet Izvestia, adding that a discussion and a possible decision on some countries will be held at the next summit of the association, which will take place in 2023, the Russian news agency TASS reported.
These countries could participate in increased resource sharing and open up air, trade and financial routes “to the new global realities”.
Notably, BRICS countries are working on establishing a new common reserve currency, similar to the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights. This would enable economic cooperation without having to resort to the US dollar or the euro – and without being threatened with having their funds confiscated by Western financial institutions.
A major Western bank, ING, has meanwhile brought up the discussion of a basket of BRICS currencies, noting that “the increasing weaponization of the dollar” could see a move into gold.
Former Russian President and Prime Minister and current Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented on the expansion. “The best protection against the rotting euro will be the transition to new means of payment in trade with our reliable partners, including through the use of national currencies – the Russian ruble, Chinese yuan, Indian rupee, etc,” he wrote on Telegram. “The dollar, the euro and the pound sterling are clearly not enough for the modern world.”
BRICS nations have since opted for a payment system that would be an alternative to the US-dominated SWIFT system. The main benefits highlighted were redundancy in case there were disruptions to the SWIFT system.
China has initiated the development of their own payment system called CIPS: the Cross-Border Inter-Bank Payments System (CIPS), which provides a network that enables financial institutions worldwide to send and receive information about financial transactions in a secure, and standardized system. India also has its alternative Structured Financial Messaging System (SFMS), as does Russia with its System for Transfer of Financial Messages (SPFS).
As more countries join BRICS and indirectly related organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SOC), the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and so on, it becomes more difficult for the United States to exert influence economically and to put financial pressure on nations to bend to its will.
The financial war declared on countries outside the realm of the dollar, showed many countries how vulnerable they actually are as a result of a close connection to the western financial systems. Over-reliance on China may also pose dangers for many, but what other options remain?

UK: Afghan Sex Offender Gets Short Sentence for Trying to Cut Teen’s Throat on Public Bus
An Afghan migrant still in Britain despite being convicted of 23 offences including a sexual assault has received a short sentence for trying to slaughter a teen boy like an animal on the floor of a public bus in Runcorn, England.
Hamid Akhonzada, who arrived in Britain supposedly aged 16 claiming to be a refugee from Afghanistan’s Western-backed government ten years ago, evidently faced no significant punishments for his many crimes, given he was a free man last March when the attack took place.
Chester Crown Court heard that Akhonzada, who claimed he was “close to God” heard voices, “held [his 17 year-old victim’s] head back and drew a bladed article described as a steak knife across the throat”, as one might slaughter an animal, after sitting behind him and his girlfriend, 16, on a public bus.
Despite this shocking testimony, recounted in a Liverpool Echo court report, and CCTV of the attack, prosecutors did not charge him for attempted murder — the victim’s throat was not fully opened, although he required glue and stitches to stem the bleeding and his girlfriend was also injured — but accepted a guilty plea to the relatively minor crimes of Section 18 wounding with intent and having a bladed article in public.
He was also convicted of assaulting an emergency worker, having beaten a prison guard so brutally that he was left unconscious for minutes some time after being taken into custody.
For this, the career violent criminal and sex offender was handed a mere four years plus four years on an extended licence after his release by Judge Michael Leeming, despite a lot of tough talk about how his “record for violence and sexual assault [was] a statutory aggravating factor”.
It should be noted that prisoners sentenced to non-“life” sentences in Britain almost never serve their full term behind bars, being entitled to automatic early release on licence halfway or, more rarely, two-thirds of the way through their sentences.
It is also possible that the figure of four years is arrived at by adding up sentences for different crimes which will be served concurrently — i.e. at the same time — so that all but the longest is effectively meaningless.

Macron Announces Street Lights Will be Turned Off in Response to Energy Crisis
Despite claiming that “France has little dependence on Russian gas,” President Macron announced that public lighting would be turned off at night to save energy.
Macron made the comments during a televised interview to commemorate Bastille Day.
Asserting that “the summer, early autumn will be very hard” for French people due to the war in Ukraine, Macron said that a total cutoff of Russian gas was looking very likely.
In response, French citizens are being told to engage in energy “sobriety” and prepare for even higher food prices as Macron announced public lighting will be turned off at night in some places.
“From now on, I will ask public bodies, and all companies that can, to consume less,” said Macron. “We will create a program and try to use lighting less in the evenings. We are launching a load reduction and sobriety program.”
“We have to prepare for a scenario in which we have to give up Russian gas completely,” he added.
Despite these rather drastic pronouncements, the French President still insisted that “France has little dependence on Russian gas.”
He also claimed that the energy crisis wasn’t caused by sanctions on Russia because “energy prices started to rise even before the war.”
“We must all prepare for the fact that the war will last. The summer and the beginning of autumn will probably be very tough,” said Macron.
As we previously highlighted, the crisis is also being felt keenly in Germany, where citizens are busy stockpiling firewood as they are told to take fewer showers, drive less and deal with freezing temperatures by wearing more layers of clothing.
Cities across Germany are also planning to use sports arenas and exhibition halls as ‘warm up spaces’ this winter to help chilly citizens who are unable to afford skyrocketing energy costs.
Still, at least they support ‘the current thing’. Maybe that will help keep them warm.
