Importing COVID: Biden administration releases 7,000 COVID-infected illegal border crossers into McAllen, Texas
By Monica Showalter
So much for Title 42, the court-reinforced order to keep illegal border crossers out of the U.S. to protect the public here during the pandemic.
Actually, they’re letting them in … and letting them in. There’s no limit.
Here’s the news from just one border city, McAllen, Texas, reported by Fox News:
The Texas border city of McAllen says more than 7,000 COVID-positive migrants have been released into the city since February, and more than 1,500 in the past week — the latest example of growing concern about the potential impact of the border crisis on efforts to control COVID-19 in the U.S.
In a statement announcing the building of new temporary shelters to deal with a “rapidly escalating” surge of immigrants being released into the border city, McAllen warned of the release of thousands of migrants with COVID-19
“Since mid-February of 2021 there have been over 7,000 confirmed COVID-19 positive immigrants released into the city of McAllen by [Customs and Border Protection], including over 1,500 new cases in the past seven days,” the statement said.
Immigrants released by CBP are dropped off with Catholic Charities and tested for COVID by a third party. If they test positive, they are asked to quarantine and offered a room at a quarantine site.

Immigrants released by CBP are dropped off with Catholic Charities and tested for COVID by a third party. If they test positive, they are asked to quarantine and offered a room at a quarantine site.
According to City-Data, McAllen, Texas has a population of 143,000 and is Texas’s 22nd-largest city. Adding 1,400 people with COVID into a population of that size in one week is a hell of a lot of COVID to get spreading.
Ostensibly, these migrants are a “humanitarian exception” to the Title 42 sendbacks — single moms with small children, and unaccompanied minors, most of whom are single MS-13-aged young men.
The problem here is that they spread COVID as much as the single adults and families with older children who are being sent back. There’s no exception with COVID, whether it comes from a single mom with four kids in tow or a single adult male without kids.
Leftists are claiming that the illegal migrants with COVID being admitted are asked — asked — to move to quarantine units — which are reportedly full at this point — presumably to get well first before being free to walk around the country.
No word on what happens if they say “no.” No word on what happens if there’s no room at the tent.
Having just gotten over this latest strain of COVID myself, and talked to others who have had it recently, all I can think is that it will take weeks — at least three — for the sick migrants to get well and test negative. That’s a lot of time and beds taken in an isolation unit, which would likely include whole families should one member test positive.
Are they going to stay the full three weeks? Don’t bet on it. With thousands of border crossers coming into the country by the day in a ramped-up surge that is already seeing the bridge underpasses filling up, according to the Fox report video, that’s a lot of COVID that’s likely to be released into the interior of the U.S. and to the U.S. public.
Outside the tent cities being put up for the COVID-infected illegal migrants, many are being placed in hotels at taxpayer expense. What happens at the hotels, is there an armed guard to keep the migrants from stepping out from their rooms and mingling with the public? There sure as heck wasn’t in this case last year, sure enough in La Joya, Texas, where COVID-infected illegals stationed in a hotel to isolate entered a Texas restaurant and coughed all over the patrons, not so much as covering their mouths. No guards at that one — and why should the U.S. public be forced to pay for guards anyway simply because unvetted migrants cannot be trusted to respect the health of the public? Based on recent news reports, the illegal migrants have already shown zero respect for U.S. immigration (and public littering) laws. Why would they care if they spread COVID to the American public?
The weasel word “asked” to isolate is quite a qualifier. We know what happens when the NGOs put them in hotels to isolate. What happens if they don’t like the tents?
What we have here is an amazing federal defiance of a judicial order on Title 42, which pretty much negates the entire order. Migrants have complained that they are COVID-negative when they have been turned away under that Title 42 order in past news stories, but now that the U.S. is importing 7,000 COVID-infected migrants at one illegal point of entry alone (and there are many) the Biden administration is effectively importing COVID into the states, and placing a tremendous burden onto the border towns which bear the brunt of the infected migrants’ effect.
This one sounds like grounds for a lawsuit by the states.
It is outrageous how lawless the Biden administration, under court order to keep Title 42 in place, is thumbing its nose at the law and bringing in thousands of COVID-infected illegals to superspread among the citizens and incur high taxpayer costs for their care should they take it. What is the point of even trying if that many “exceptions” get in? The Bidenites don’t actually care. They are importing COVID.

Twitter Germany blocks tweet of Austrian government politician regarding asylum seekers
Austria “suffers” from the second highest burden of asylum applications in the EU: Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) Secretary General Laura Sachslehner was sharply criticised for this tweet. Now Twitter has even blocked her posting in Germany because it violates the legislation there.
In terms of domestic politics, it was the stir of the weekend: “A total of 16,000 asylum applications have already been filed this year,” Sachslehner tweeted on Whit Monday. “The vast majority of asylum seekers come from Afghanistan and Syria. Austria thus suffers from the second highest per capita burden of asylum applications in the EU.” Especially the word “suffering” caused sharp criticism, especially from the Green coalition partner – eXXpress reported.
Sachslehner based this on the latest asylum figures for the first third of the year. The increase compared to 2021 is 138 percent. Sachslehner therefore immediately called for better protection of the EU’s external borders. And: displaced persons from Ukraine could not be equated with migrants from Syria and Afghans.
In Austria, the tweet can still be accessed, unlike in neighbouring Germany. There, it was apparently blocked by Twitter. The social network cites local legislation in Germany as the reason.

Tunisian illegal migrant is first arrest in wave of mysterious hypodermic needle attacks in bars and clubs in France and the UK
A mysterious wave of hypodermic needle attacks has gripped France and parts of the United Kingdom, with over 300 victims in France alone reportedly suffering strange illnesses and side effects after being punctured by a needle inside clubs and bars.
Now, one arrest has been made related to the attacks, with the alleged perpetrator an illegal Tunisian immigrant, according to French newspaper Le Figaro.
Authorities are hoping that the indictment makes it possible to begin solving the mystery behind the attacks, which have predominately occurred in France and the United Kingdom, along with parts of Belgium and the Netherlands. The suspect, arrested Friday night in Toulon, is currently in pre-trial detention, with investigators attempting to gather more evidence in the case.
Since the beginning of April, unexplained hypodermic needle injections have plagued young people in nightclubs, bars, and festivals throughout France, with complaints lodged in Lille, Béziers, Nantes, Rennes, and Strasbourg, as well as in Grenoble, Nancy, Lyon, Besançon, Valence, and Toulouse.
It remains unclear if suspects are injecting people with a substance or a disease, but governments in all the countries involved have issued warnings and are actively investigating the cases. Some concerts have even been interrupted mid-performance due to audience members reporting being pricked by a syringe.
The Associated Press has interviewed a number of victims who have provided troubling accounts of what they experienced:
On May 4, 18-year-old Tomas Laux attended a rap concert in Lille in northern France, where he smoked a bit of marijuana and drank some alcohol during the show. When he came home, he told The Associated Press, he was feeling dizzy and had a headache – and he spotted a strange little skin puncture on his arm and a bruise.
The next morning, the symptoms didn’t disappear and Laux went to his doctor, who advised him to go to the emergency room. Medics confirmed evidence of a needle prick, and Laux was tested for HIV and hepatitis. His results came out negative, like other victims’ so far.
“I’ve given up going to concerts since it happened,” Laux said.
Hundreds of kilometers (miles) away, Leanne Desnos recounted a similar experience after going to a club in the southwest city of Bordeaux in April. Desnos, also 18, passed out the next day, and felt dizzy and had hot flashes while at a fast food restaurant. When she got home, she realized she had an injection mark on her arm. After having seen testimony on social media about the mystery pricks, she went to a clinic to get tested for infections. She is still awaiting results.
Most of the victims have been women who show visible signs of an injection site, along with symptoms of feeling groggy, dizzy, or fatigued. The Associated Press, which ran the story on June 2, indicated that despite multiple investigations going on across Europe, no suspects have been arrested, no motive has been ascertained, and no needles used in the attacks have been recovered.
Now, with the first arrest taking place in France, investigators are hoping for a breakthrough. The illegal migrant in France was arrested after a young woman and a teenager became involved in an alteration with the suspect in which both of them were reportedly punctured with a needle. They told the police they saw the suspect carrying a syringe. The arrested individual is 20 years old, is residing in France without a residence permit, and is unemployed. He was also known to police for a range of previous criminal incidents.
In Toulon, the prosecution had recorded 21 reports of hypodermic needle punctures by the end of the weekend. It is unclear if the Tunisian is responsible for any of these additional cases.
In 2020, he was sentenced to prison for domestic violence against his partner. However, because he is a father, it has been difficult to deport him from the country. The individual continues to vigorously deny his guilt, despite the statements of two witnesses.
While the arrest of the Tunisian migrant may represent a breakthrough in the case, it may ultimately lead to a dead end. In all likelihood, multiple suspects are involved in the attacks, as they are spread over a wide geographic area.

Wittenberg church to face German Supreme Court over ‘Jew sow’
German cultural heritage will face the Federal Supreme Court after the Jewish community in Bonn said it felt “attacked” by the “Jew’s sow” on the Wittenberg Church.
The small sculpture in question was part of the common exterior decoration of churches in the Middle Ages, but the Jewish community has demanded the removal of the sculpture.
The facade of the church has a Judensau, or Jew’s pig, dating from 1305. It portrays a rabbi who looks under the sow’s tail at its anus, and other Jews drinking from its teats. An inscription reads “Rabini Shem hamphoras,” which alludes to “shem ha-meforasch” [a secret name of God, allegedly Shemhamphorasch]. The sculpture is one of the last remaining examples in Germany.
In 1988, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Kristallnacht, debate sprung up about the monument, which resulted in the addition of a sculpture recognizing that during the Holocaust six million Jews were murdered “under the sign of the cross”.
In his text Vom Schem Hamphoras (1543), Luther commented on the Judensausculpture at Wittenberg, echoing the antisemitism of the image and locating the Talmud in the sow’s bowels:
“Here on our church in Wittenberg a sow is sculpted in stone. Young pigs and Jews lie suckling under her. Behind the sow a rabbi is bent over the sow, lifting up her right leg, holding her tail high and looking intensely under her tail and into her Talmud, as though he were reading something acute or extraordinary, which is certainly where they get their Shemhamphoras.”
The Supreme court must now decide whether the “defamatory sculpture” constitutes an offence.
The plaintiff is Michael Dietrich Düllmann, a member of the Jewish community in Bonn. He is an elderly German who converted to Judaism in the 1970s. He has already gone through two instances, but at 78, he is not backing down.
Düllmann wants to remove the relief from the façade of the main church of the Reformation and have it moved to the Luther House Museum in Wittenberg together with a historical-critical classification. After all, this is where Martin Luther wrote his anti-Jewish writings, argued Düllmann.
“The Wittenberg ‘Jew sow’ has been controversial for some time. For this reason, it has been expanded into a ‘Place of Remembrance’ since 1988, and a memorial plaque embedded in the ground refers to the victims of National Socialism. In addition, there is an explanatory panel on the relief as well as a cedar from Israel as a “sign of reconciliation”.
But this is not enough for the convert. Plaintiff Düllmann keeps citing new complaints and has also been able to win over other allies in the fight against the unloved pictorial work, such as Friedrich Kramer, Bishop of Central Germany, Klaus Holz, Secretary General of the Protestant Academy, Felix Klein, the Federal Government’s anti-Semitism commissioner.
However, Josef Schuster, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, does not want to join the call for the sculpture’s removal.
Düllmann is unperturbed by this obstacle. He said he eventually wanted to go all the way to the European Court of Human Rights.
The fight is about to become interesting since the Wittenberg City Church is a World Heritage Site and a listed building. Whether the sensitivities of Bonn’s religious community will outweigh these, remains to be seen. At least, no such fervour was noted in removing recent Nazi-related insignia in full display in Germany in relation to the war in Ukraine.
In 2020, a regional court ruled that the artwork could not be touched. The Naumburg court argued that the sculpture was part of the ancient building, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and thus could not be disturbed.
The Wittenberg church was the first church to ever hold a mass in German instead of Latin. Martin Luther, the ex-Catholic monk responsible for the Protestant Reformation, lived in Wittenberg and preached at the church.
Most Lutheran churches in Germany have similar reliefs. An estimated 30 churches remain, including the Cologne Cathedral, as well as in Eberswalde and Magdeburg.
According to the convert, the Wittenberg relief “is a terrible falsification of Judaism […] a defamation and insult to the Jewish people and it has had a terrible effect to this day”.

Face mask obligation and school closures were useless, led to health crisis, says German government expert
Much of what Germany did to stop the spread of Covid-19 was not just useless but led to a mental and physical health crisis, according to Professor Reinhard Berner, who sits on the Federal Government Expert Council, which actively advises Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The director of the Polyclinic for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the University of Dresden conducted a so-called meta-study comparing the restrictions in Germany with less-strict measures in other countries, according to German news outlet Die Welt.
Berner first compared Germany and Switzerland. While in Switzerland, the schools were only closed for eight weeks at the beginning of the pandemic, and daycare centers remained open almost continuously, Germany’s restrictions lasted nearly five times longer, totaling 38 weeks.
The question then becomes, was Germany five times better off than Switzerland?
The clear answer is not at all, according to the international data Berner examined.
If one compares the incidences of Covid-19 in both countries in children and adolescents up to 19, they are almost the same. Instead, the long-lasting school closures predominantly had a negative effect. To this day, adolescents in Germany, in contrast to those in Switzerland, are struggling with immense secondary illnesses, including mental disorders that have led to a dramatic increase in suicide attempts, with restrictions and closures playing the major role in this troublesome development.
“If we assume that in the future we will be dealing with variants that are comparable to those of the past two and a half years, then there is no longer any justification for school closures,” Berner concludes.
Studies have earlier shown that every sixth child in Germany gained weight drastically during the lockdown. In addition to school closures, the general ban on sports is considered to have been a driver of obesity. This measure seems to have been counterproductive, argues Berner.
The doctor also examined the effectiveness of wearing masks in schools. He cites an investigation by the Finnish health authority that compared the incidences of children living in areas with and without mandatory masking in schools.
Here, too, there was no difference in terms of the frequency of infection over six months. Therefore, according to Berner, the restriction is not justified.
“As long as variants like Omicron appear in the future, politicians can save themselves from prescribing a mask in primary schools,” the government expert says.
Berner works at the Carl Gustav University hospital clinic, where he actively conducts research with a focus on the heath of children and teenagers.

Italy: 14 arrests in anti-terror raid on Pakistani cell
Italian police on Tuesday made 14 arrests in an anti-terror raid on a Pakistani cell operating in Italy and other European countries, judicial sources said.
The cell was allegedly linked to a wider network called the Gabar Group, itself linked to Zaheer Hassan Mahmoud, the 27-year-old Pakistani man who attacked the former offices of the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris in September 2020, wounding two people with a cleaver.
Those arrested in Italy and abroad have been charged with conspiracy to commit international terrorism.
Mahmoud went to Charlie Hebdo’s former offices to punish them for re-publishing cartoons of the prophet Mohamed for which 12 people were killed there in January 2015.
He did not know that the magazine had moved in the meantime.
He wounded two staffers of a press agency that had taken over the offices, who had gone down into the street to smoke a cigarette.
