Macron struggles to respond to death of Jérémy Cohen, the new symbol of France’s out-of-control crime problem

The death of Jewish man Jérémy Cohen has become a flashpoint in France’s presidential election, with President Emmanuel Macron’s rivals pointing to the man’s death as the latest evidence of a France that is becoming increasingly dangerous under his tenure.

Macron has struggled to respond after harrowing video of Cohen’s death was reportedly leaked by the victim’s father. The 30-year-old was violently attacked by a large group of youths in mid-February, and then in his attempt to run away, was struck by a tram in Bobigny in the Paris suburbs. The area is known as a “lawless” zone and features one of the highest concentrations of Middle Eastern migrants in France. Although it has not been proven whether the attack was antisemitic, the man was described as nearly always wearing his yarmulke, and even sleeping with it on, according to friends and family.

While the death of Cohen dramatically entered the public debate earlier in the week, Macron only reacted to the man’s death on Tuesday after public pressure grew, and he could no longer ignore the tragedy.

“We were all shocked by the scenes that have been made public,” Macron said, expressing his alleged solidarity and support for the relatives, who, by his words, experienced “something awful.”

Macron, perhaps sensing his lead is slipping in the polls, is struggling to address concerns over rising crime and mass migration, two areas he has been hit hard on and two problems that have only grown during his presidency. Just days before Sunday’s election, Macron said that France is “not overwhelmed” by mass migration, although a range of polls show that the vast majority of French people disagree. In particular, two-thirds of French peopleconsider that immigration has a negative effect in terms of overall security and crime, and 53 percent of the French believes it maximizes the risk of terrorism.

Claims that security fears are not grounded in reality and only promoted by scaremongers to create a false public perception are inaccurate. As French government crime data shows, 2021 saw a dramatic increase in rape, drug use, and physical assault. More broadly speaking, murder and attempted murder have jumped 91 percent since 2000.

Macron accused of using empty rhetoric as his lead shrinks

Many French see the country’s interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, as right behind Macron as the public face of France’s soft-on-crime policy. As a result, Darmanin has also been forced to step up his rhetoric over the issue, as he has countless times before over similar tragedies, including the beheading of Samuel Paty by a Chechen Islamist radical and various other terror attacks that continue to plague the country.

“Justice must win,” Darmanin said after a judicial investigation started on Mar. 29.

Macron also picked up on the theme of “justice.”

“Justice carries out its work independently, and we respect it. I guarantee it. And I understand that the prosecutor has chosen to speak in the coming hours. I think it is a good thing,” the French president said, saying that it would be best if the investigation concludes as quickly as possible for the sake of transparency.

Recalling that his office contacted the parents of the 30-year-old Jewish man on Monday evening, the head of state claimed that the ministers have obviously been following the file from the start, according to Le Figaro.

The death of Cohen was brought to the public attention by Éric Zemmour, who met with the victim’s father on Tuesday. The presidential candidate criticized what he considered to be Macron’s attempts to assuage the public over Cohen’s death during the campaign.

“There are human tragedies every day. They must not give rise to political manipulation of any kind,” Macron had asserted while trying to downplay the tragedy.

Le Pen has also decried the death of Cohen, writing, “What was presented as an accident could be an antisemitic murder,” and then asking: “How should we explain the silence on this affair and its motivations?”

The French head to the polls on April 10, with Macron and Le Pen expected to head to the second round. Macron’s lead has dramatically shrunk in recent days, with an Atlas-Politico poll placing Le Pen ahead of Macron for the first time ever.

France: Student who glorified Islamic State arrested in Avignon

A 20-year-old man was arrested in Avignon on Tuesday April 5 and is due to go on trial immediately on Friday April 8 for glorifying terrorism, reports La Provence. The young man used social networks to promote the ideas of the Islamic State. This pattern regularly led to him being banned from these platforms. However, from his dorm room, the student kept creating new accounts to carry on. He shared online content related to the terrorist organisation whose deeds he applauded.

But his actions eventually attracted the attention of the authorities. His user accounts had come to the attention of the prefecture of the Vaucluse department, which alerted the law enforcement authorities. The criminal investigation department in Montpellier was able to identify the owner of the accounts. He was arrested by police officers of the anti-terrorist group and his footage was confiscated. In particular, photos and videos of executions committed by members of the Islamic State were found in his mobile phone, reports Le Dauphiné libéré.

He was taken into police custody, handed over and detained pending his trial. The “public glorification” of acts of terrorism can be punished with up to five years in prison. People who use “a public online communication service” such as social networks to do so face up to seven years in prison.

Macron makes explosive claim that Poland is led by a ‘far-right anti-Semite,’ accuses Polish PM Morawiecki of attempting to interfere in French election

French President Emmanuel Macron has described Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki as a “far-right anti-Semite” in response to criticism aimed at the French president over his attempts to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“You cannot negotiate with those who commit genocide!” Morawiecki told a press conference on Tuesday in the aftermath of the Bucha massacre of Ukrainian civilians at the hands of Russian soldiers. The Polish prime minister singled out Macron for particular criticism, asking him: “President Macron, how many times have you negotiated with Putin? What have you achieved?

“Have you stopped any of those activities? You don’t negotiate with criminals, you fight them. No one negotiated with Hitler. Would any of you negotiate with Hitler, Stalin, with Pol Pot?” he added.

The incumbent French president dismissed the critique as the opportunistic ramblings of a “far-right anti-Semite” who has historically hosted Macron’s presidential rival Marine Le Pen and supports her, according to Macron.

“The Polish prime minister is a far-right anti-Semite banning LGBT people,” the French president said of Morawiecki.

“He supports Marine Le Pen, whom he has hosted several times. Let’s not be naive, he wants to help her before the elections,” Macron continued, and defended his conversations with Putin as a genuine attempt to “avoid war and build a new architecture of peace in Europe.”

In an interview with the French TV station TF1, he described criticism of the talks with Putin as “scandalous” and “groundless.”

Tensions are high in Paris with the forthcoming presidential election becoming tighter as it grows nearer. The French head to the polls for the first round of elections on Sunday, with polls suggesting that a second round of voting a fortnight later will be necessary to produce a valid result.

The incumbent Macron has struggled in recent days to retain his top spot, with his strategy blotted by his response to the harrowing death of Jewish man Jérémy Cohen, which has become a flashpoint in France’s presidential election. Macron has also made other controversial remarks, saying the French have no right to self-defense after a farmer shot a burglar trying to break into his house while his 3-year-old daughter was home.

Indeed, for the first time in the election campaign on Friday, a poll by French institute Atlas Intel had arch rival Marine Le Pen ahead of Macron by one percentage point in a second round run-off between the two candidates — Le Pen edging the man she failed to beat five years ago by 50.5 percent to 49.5 percent.

Anti-Russian sanctions: A bane for the West

Moscow is planning more countermeasures against Western sanctions. If implemented, they will have a devastating effect on the West’s economy, production and energy and food security. Commentators point out that Western leaders seem to be doing the opposite of what should be done.

The mandated “green” globalist agendas such as Build Back Better are prioritized over sanctions and undermine the populations’ most basic needs.

On Wednesday, March 30, Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the Russian State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, on his Telegram channel proposed tougher retaliation for Western sanctions against Russia. “It would be right to expand the list of goods that can only be exported for rubles where it is beneficial to our country: fertilizers, cereals, vegetable oil, crude oil, coal, metals, wood, etc.,” wrote Volodin.

Moscow has previously stated that all hostile countries would only be allowed to buy Russian energy if they pay in rubles. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in the last week of March that the new gas payment system would take time to implement, despite a deadline set by President Vladimir Putin to March 31. Friendly countries are allowed to pay with whatever currency they want, based on what was agreed upon.

There are some 50 hostile countries and the remaining ones – about three quarters of all countries in the world – are considered by Moscow as friendly countries. Several representatives of the West’s establishment, such as French President Emanuel Macron, have declared that they would not pay in rubles, which essentially means an export ban with serious consequences for the West.

On April 1, Britain’s Telegraph reported that Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian prime minister and president, had announced that Russia would not only demand food and energy in rubles from unfriendly countries, but would no longer supply food. The Telegraph quoted Medvedev without adding which countries were being affected.

On Thursday, March 24, US President Joe Biden gave a press conference in Belgium after Biden participated in meetings with NATO and G7 leaders. The doddering American president acknowledged that global food shortages were coming. He pointed out that Russia and Ukraine were Europe’s granaries.

“It’s going to be real,” Biden said in Brussels. “The price of the sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia. It’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country as well.”

Ukraine has historically been called Europe’s barley table because of its extremely fertile soil. Before the war started, Russia and Ukraine together accounted for almost a third of all wheat exported globally, a fifth of all maize and 80 percent of sunflower oil.

And even though Biden fully understands that food shortages are imminent, he still took no significant action to counter the impending disaster. On the contrary, when American farmers earlier this year, among other things, asked not to be forced to sell their crops for biofuel (for example ethanol), they were ignored. Millions of tonnes of grain, potential food for large numbers of people, would instead continue to be used to combat the alleged threat of carbon dioxide emissions.

Global sanctions devastating for the West

Biden then went on to explain what the consequences of the sanctions against Russia, as punishment for its invasion of Ukraine, would be a bane for Europe as well as the rest of the world.

Many observers found Biden’s statement most curious. There are however facts that the mainstream media does not want to report on: The Russian economy has a nominal gross domestic product (GDP) of $ 1 648 billion (IMF 2021). By comparison, the United States has a GDP of $ 22 940 billion (IMF 2021), i.e. about 14 times larger.

The state of California’s GDP of $ 3 357 billion (FRED 2020) is more than double that of Russia, the world’s largest nation in terms of area. If we compare the Russian economy with both the US and the EU, whose GDP is $ 17 078 billion (IMF 2021), the Russian economy corresponds to only 4,1 percent of the US and the EU. And it should be noted that the EU does not include countries such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia and Canada to name a few.

What is the real logic behind sanctions?

According to the President of the United States, if sanctions, designed by the West’s establishment and encouraged by its media, impose such a terrible cost, several questions arise. One of these is that if Russia’s economy is not even a quarter of the US and EU economies, why impose sanctions that in practice affect the world economy and thus hit the creators of these sanctions harder?

Tucker Carlsson, Fox News host, pointed out that the most important task for any government was to ensure food, water and energy for its people and that China, for example, was working hard to do so. Carlson then underscored that the globalist agenda of Build Back Better, which Biden and the West’s leaders cherish, was exactly the opposite.

It gets even worse when we consider that the net exporter Russia is the world’s only full-spectrum superpower in terms of raw materials, while the West’s economies today are mostly service economies.

If world trade is slowed down and stopped, as has happened with two years of Corona restrictions and now counter-productive sanctions against Russia, it would mainly harm countries that rely on importing raw materials. These, of course, are found in the West, which is now seeing its production capacity weaken and even implode due to commodity and energy shortages.

Energy prices in the West are starting to paralyze countries, where rampant inflation, not least in food prices, is making it increasingly difficult for people to cope with everyday life. At the same time, commodity prices in Russia are falling, as there is now a surplus of food and energy, including fuel. A liter of diesel costs around 50 rubles at the gas station.

The only logical conclusion is that sanctions are merely a pretext and actually directed at humanity in general and the peoples of the West in particular.

For the first time, a poll shows Le Pen would beat Macron in French presidential runoff

A poll by French institute Atlas Intel has become the first to indicate right-wing candidate Marine Le Pen could beat French President Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential elections.

The Atlas poll showed that none of the candidates will obtain at least 50 percent of the votes in the first round of the election on Sunday, therefore triggering a second round runoff. According to the poll, in the first round, Macron would be placed first with 27 percent of the vote, Marine Le Pen second with 20.7 percent and veteran leftist Jean-Luc Mélenchon third with 18.1 percent.

In the second round, however, the Atlas poll shows Le Pen beating Macron by 50.5 percent to 49.5 percent.

While Atlas — as polling agencies routinely do — did not comment on the poll data, analysts say Le Pen was able to catch up with Macron on account of her relentless campaign across France, while Macron largely refrained from direct campaigning and has even been accused of using the war in Ukraine as a pretext to avoid direct confrontation with rival candidates.

“Le Pen did a proximity campaign, visiting a lot of small towns and villages. Her trips were not very much covered by national press but had a big echo in local media,” said Mathieu Gallard, research director at polling firm Ipsos. “She gave an impression of proximity, which is very important for French voters,” he added.

Macron has also made a number of controversial statements as of late, arguing that France is “not overwhelmed” by mass immigration despite polls showing the majority of French have a completely different view. He also said the French have no right to self-defense after a farmer shot a burglar who invaded his home while his 3-year-old daughter was present. Finally, the death of Jeremy Cohen has become a symbol of France’s out-of-control crime problem, which is likely to further erode faith in Macron’s leadership.

The Atlas poll was conducted between April 4-6 using a representative sample of 1,946 people, with the so-called computer-assisted web interview (CAWI) method. It has a 5-percent error margin.

US Climate Tsar: Wait until you see 100 million refugees coming to Europe

The US “climate tsar” John Kerry believes that the Russian operation in Ukraine creates carbon dioxide emissions and that the war takes focus away from the climate issue, which is more important than anything else.

Kerry also predicted that Europe would see 100 million migrants fleeing famine and social chaos in their home countries. However, he called them “climate refugees” rather than hungry refugees, and maintained that the problem was the climate, not the incipient food shortage that currently seriously threatens global food security.

John Kerry, the US “climate tsar” in the Biden administration and former Secretary of State under the Obama administration, recently warned of the dangers of “climate change” and reduced access to food. It happened on March 7 at the annual CERAWeek energy conference in the oil city of Houston, Texas.

He began his speech by attacking Moscow’s actions in Ukraine, which he described as “disgusting”, while expressing support for Kiev. He then moved on to the immigration issue, where critics in social and alternative media said he “carefully designed” his speech to urge “citizens of different nations to accept millions of refugees” whether they want to it or not. Kerry then made a fateful prediction for Europe.

“We already see climate refugees around the world. If you think migration has been a problem in Europe with the Syrian war and also what we see now… wait until you see 100 million people for whom the entire food production capacity has collapsed,” he warned.

The climate tsar, who has been criticized by many for pursuing globalist ideals and foisting narrow climate views on every issue, then went on to explain what the goals were. The only thing that can solve the climate crisis and save humanity is that we achieve Net Zero, i.e. get rid of all carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 at the latest. However, he acknowledged that the supply of natural gas, which is included in the sanctions against Russia, was a vital part in achieving these goals.

“If you think migration has been a problem in Europe […] wait until you see 100 million people [migrants] for whom the entire food production capacity has collapsed,” the former Secretary of State said.

Kerry, a Great Reset advocate, then tried to link the already questionable global temperature increase of 1,2 degrees Celsius to the ongoing refugee crisis. Many were outraged by the attempt to insert the now largest influx of refugees, that of war-torn Ukraine, into the climate debate. Jesse Watters, host of Primetime on the conservative American news channel Fox News, described Kerry’s move as “scandalous”.

The climate tsar also provoked a great deal of anger on February 24, on the same day as Russia launched its operation in Ukraine. He complained that there was a risk that the war would take focus away from the most important issue, the climate. Kerry never noticed the human suffering and death – it was rather the emissions from the battles that worried him.

“That [war] can obviously have a profound negative impact on the climate. You have a war and of course you will have massive emissions consequences from the war. But just as important is that we will lose people’s focus […] they will be diverted [from the climate issue] and I think it could have a detrimental effect,” Kerry said in an interview with the British BBC’s Arabic-language channel.

Kerry further expressed concern about both the Russian people and Vladimir Putin’s material assets, in relation to the overblown climate issue. “I hope President Putin realizes that the people of the northern part of his country used to live on 66 percent frozen land. Now there is a thaw, and his [Putin’s] infrastructure is in danger. And the people of Russia are in danger. So I hope President Putin will help us stay on [the globalists’ dictated] path about what we need to do for the climate,” he said.

His pronouncements caused much bewilderment and were described as both bizarre and unrealistic.

France: UPDATE- North African man arrested – An explosive device, was placed in the Saint-Etienne Cathedral in Toulouse

UPDATE: North African man arrested.

On Friday morning, April 8, a police operation took place around Saint-Etienne Cathedral in Toulouse, in which explosives experts were also deployed. A person had entered the place of worship during mass and had delivered a package. The prefecture of the Haute-Garonne department is asking the population to avoid the area. According to a witness statement sourced by Valeurs actuelles, the person entered the cathedral during the 8am mass, shortly after communion. He placed a package in front of the altar, which seemed suspicious.

Initial reports mentioned an attack on a sexton. According to Valeurs actuelles, however, the sexton actually tried to arrest the fleeing suspect, but did not succeed. So there was no actual act of violence. The sexton then had the cathedral cleared, where about 40 people had gathered. The suspect, described as “looking like a delivery man” and wearing a cap and a bomber jacket, was actively sought by the authorities, in particular using CCTV images. According to La Dépêche, explosives experts discovered that the package contained a homemade explosive device that contained acid but had no detonator. The motives for the act remained unknown. The man is said to have shouted some words in the church, which, however, were not understood by those present.

The district, where among other things the prefecture is located, was cordoned off and explosives experts were deployed. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin also tweeted that it was a “police operation” and that the population would be informed about further developments.

France: Polygamous Islamist migrant rapes 29 children

Twenty-nine teenagers and children are alleged to have been victims of the criminal machinations of a 42-year-old man who was charged with raping minors and remanded in custody in Agen on Thursday ( April 7). The crimes allegedly took place between 2017 and 2020 in a remote house in Nogaro.

It is a large wooden building at the edge of the runway of the Nogaro airport, protected from view. A fairly new-looking building that a 42-year-old man from the Ivory Coast had rented from a Belgian owner and which is said to have turned into a real house of horrors over several years. The alleged crimes that took place there between 2017 and 2020 are extremely serious: rape of 15-year-old minors with barbaric acts.

The 40-year-old accused in this shameful affair is said to have brought his first wife to Gers, who was soon joined by several of her sisters, all of whom have French nationality and are between 32 and 42 years old. They allegedly had more or less consensual sexual relations with him and lived in his house with their numerous children. One of them eventually left the home before reporting rape, intentional violence and deprivation of liberty. According to her, the children went through hell: they were sexually abused, strapped with cable ties and beaten by the adults and older children. In particular, the plaintiff reported being beaten with hoses on the minors, who were locked up for hours in the dark… Disgusting.

The victims attended the primary school and the Collège in Nogaro when it happened, as we were told by the mayor of the municipality, Christian Peyret, who also confirmed that it was a ” sensitive case” and that an investigation had been launched. The children arrived every morning in two minivans. A young supervisor who had recently been employed as a community service worker at the primary school and had come into contact with several of them described “very restrained children” who stayed together most of the time, but without a clear family bond. “When we asked them if they were siblings, they could not answer us,” the young supervisor reports.

(…) The 42-year-old man was taken into police custody on Tuesday before being charged with “rape of minors” on Thursday and remanded in custody. He denies the crimes he is accused of. According to our information, the 40-year-old is said to have converted to a radical strain of Islam.La Dépêche
