WATCH: Italy: Naked North African threatens passers-by with a knife

Turin is as bad as Rome. On Sunday December the 26th, police in the centre of the Savoy capital stopped a man of Moroccan origin who was completely naked, holding a knife and threatening passers-by. Until the arrival of the police, who disarmed the man before taking him away, there was great fear among passers-by in Piazza Vittorio Veneto.

During the evening, the 25-year-old Moroccan managed to enter a Brazilian restaurant in the city centre, where he stole the large kitchen knife. When the shop owner realised what had happened, he started chasing the man and alerted the police, who quickly rushed to the scene. The owner of the restaurant, who is always in contact with the police, gave the officers precise clues to identify the Moroccan. The police managed to intercept the fugitive not far from Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in Piazza Teresa.

Here they first tried to convince him to throw the weapon on the ground, but this did not succeed. On the contrary, at the sight of the uniformed officers he escalated even more and tried to attack the police officers with the knife in his hand and threw stones he found at them. He also threw a metal bar, which he had found in a nearby dustbin, at the officers. The atmosphere became so heated that the Moroccan started vengeance on some cars parked nearby and also on a police car that had come to block his way.

The police had to surround the man to disarm him and could only then arrest him. The police intervention was also necessary to prevent the man from being lynched by passers-by. He was charged with resisting law enforcement, damage to property, attempted assault and theft for taking the knife from the Brazilian restaurant. He was also charged with breach of common decency for exposing himself on the street. The Moroccan is known to the police and has a number of previous convictions.
