They came in broad daylight and struck with unbelievable brutality: Antifa mobs carried out violent actions in Schwerin, Magdeburg, Erfurt and Halle last Saturday and vandalised shops of the clothing brand Thor Steinar.
In Erfurt, the Antifa perpetrators gained access to the shop via a decoy who had previously made acquaintance with the shop assistant. The shop assistant was knocked down and then injured so severely by two perpetrators with a blackjack that she had to be treated in the intensive care unit of a hospital. The perpetrators deliberately hit the victim’s knees and ankles with a nightstick.
A total of six perpetrators were involved in the attack in Erfurt: Two who used violence against the shop assistant, two others who spread tar paint and butyric acid in the salesroom, and two people who kept cave. Although a helicopter was used in the search for the perpetrators and public transport in Erfurt city centre was briefly paralysed to limit the perpetrators’ possibilities of escape, the police followed the tip-off of a saleswoman. On the other hand, the police did to not investigate the tip-off of a passer-by about a person smelling of butyric acid.
So once again questions arise about the effectiveness of police work against antifa perpetrators – and this in the federal state governed by the left-wing state premier Bodo Ramelow, of all people, where there was a huge series of arsons and attacks by antifa perpetrators last year.
These crimes are part of a veritable campaign by Antifa against the company, which is framed by left-wing extremists as a “Nazi brand”. Already in December 2019, almost an entire multi-storey residential building in the centre of Plauen burnt down because left-wing extremists had carried out an arson attack on the Thor Steinar shop located on the ground floor.
In view of this series of crimes, one wonders once again when left-wing terrorism will finally be perceived, named and fought as such by the media, politics and authorities instead of permanently and continuously trivialising it? If the trivialisation continues, then it is only a matter of time before the first fatality is mourned.
