No custody: Afghan rapes children and hides before trial begins in Switzerland

An Afghan man, now 32 years old, would have had to stand trial last week at the Brugg District Court for multiple sexual assault, multiple sexual acts with children, multiple pornography and offences against the weapons law. According to the newspaper “Aargauer Zeitung”, the accused did not appear in court. And there is no other trace of the 32-year-old. The man has so far been put on international wanted list without success.

According to the indictment, he allegedly sexually abused both a girl, then between twelve and thirteen years old, and a boy, then between eleven and thirteen years old, several times. The boy was the son of the accused’s partner at the time. The accused allegedly raped him several times in the shower and in the cot. Among other things, the alleged perpetrator allegedly grabbed the girl’s trousers and stuck a finger into her vagina.

As the “Aargauer Zeitung” writes, it was not deemed necessary to remand the alleged offender in custody. The reason: a danger of collusion and repetition was ruled out. The 32-year-old had not lived at home since the offences were revealed, and contact with the victims could have been ruled out. There was also no danger of collusion.

The prosecution is demanding six years in prison for the 32-year-old and an order to leave the country for a period of ten years. A new court date has been set for November 2. If the 32-year-old has still not turned up by then, the trial will take place without him.
