New Islam map for Austria documents many more Islamist mosques than the government’s map

In May, the conservative-green government of Austria surprised the public with a map of Islam. It caused a great stir. It was anti-Muslim and counterproductive, the Left wing said. But in fact the map was incomplete, as it now turns out, and also very expensive. The Freilich magazine in Graz is therefore working on a complete map of Islam that also includes all backyard mosques in Austria.

According to initiator Heinrich Sickl, they have already documented more Islamic associations and mosques in Austria than the government. While the Islam map of the 500,000 euro “Documentation Centre for Political Islam” shows a total of only 200 spots on the map, 280 Islamic associations/mosques have been discovered in Vienna alone.

“We are creating the the true Islam map,” says Sickl. A separate homepage has been set up for this purpose, where the project can be supported. Initiator Sickl tells the portal unzensuriert:

The conservative-green federal government presented itself as a fighter against political Islam with an “Islam map”. When the Islamists became outraged in alliance with the left, the map was scaled down and even disappeared completely from the web.

Despite a huge budget, the map remains far behind the possibilities and predominantly window dressing.
That is why we are creating a new, genuine Islam map that offers clarity on the connections between political Islam and the Islamisation it seeks. We want to know the currents and most important representatives at work here and then expand the map to the entire German-speaking region. The aim is to present the development of Islam in an accurate way. Freilich magazine already has experience in creating maps. On its own homepage, left-wing violence in Central Europe was impressively documented – as a counterpoint, so to speak, to the published opinion that left-wing violence does not exist at all.
