Mass brawl among about 50 Iraqis results in injuries in Offenburg, Germany

The quarrels of a larger group in the area of the Offenburg railway station led to several emergency calls to the police shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning. On the phone, there was talk of a mass brawl between about 50 people in front of a bar in the street Hauptstraße, which is why police forces from Offenburg, Haslach and Lahr had to be called in to assist and to calm the tension, according to the police report.

The police reported that it was initially difficult to investigate the incident due to the raging mood. Almost exclusively Iraqi nationals were identified at the scene. The altercation may have been preceded by family disputes at a wedding in Achern, where, according to police investigations, all participants had previously been guests.

In the end, a total of four injured persons had to be admitted to the local hospital. The exact background of the assaults and the possible use of weapons are now the subject of police investigations.
