Italy: Somali “refugee” stabs 5 people on 20th anniversary of 9/11 – 6-year-old child’s carotid artery severed

Fear and madness in Rimini, where a Somali stabbed five people, including a six-year-old child. The boy’s life is in danger and he was taken to hospital. The crime took place yesterday evening on a bus of line 11 in Rimini, more precisely in the Miramare district. Two conductors (two women) approached the Somali and asked him to buy the ticket. He then pulled out a knife and injured both women, whereupon the frightened passengers raised the alarm. The man then fled and stabbed everyone he encountered on the street. Among them was a six-year-old boy whose carotid artery was severed by the immigrant.

Ambulances arrive at the scene of the crime: The two women conductors are immediately taken to the hospital in Cesena, as reported by the Resto del Carlino. One of the two women, who was wounded in the neck, is in serious condition. In the meantime, the Somali criminal, fleeing along the streets of Rimini, tries to steal the car of two motorists. But the various attempts fail. For the police, meanwhile, the hunt for the man has started. Thanks to tips from witnesses, the officers stop at the Metromare and there the immigrant is spotted, and immediately arrested.

Not much is known yet about the Somali man who brought terror to Rimini. He is 26 years old and his place of residence was a Red Cross facility. He had applied for asylum status a few months ago. In the past he had already shown an aggressive and violent behaviour. At the time of the arrest, he does not appear to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but this needs to be confirmed by analysis. For the time being, therefore, investigators are not ruling out any suspicion, including that of terrorism, especially as yesterday was a symbolic date: the twentieth anniversary of 9/11.
