The man’s violent crime claimed three lives and left countless seriously injured: three women died, one of them in front of her daughter, in front of whom she had thrown herself protectively. Several people were injured, five of them critically. According to the information, the man had been registered in Germany for the first time in 2015. When he arrived, he had given 1997 as his year of birth, said the spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office.
During a medical examination, which had already taken place in mid-July, the Somali suddenly stated that he was born in 1989. However, this does not change the assessment of the crime, said a spokesperson of the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office. The Federal Prosecutor General in Karlsruhe had investigated the case because the Somali is alleged to have killed civilians, journalists and police officers for the terrorist organisation Al-Shabaab in 2008/2009. However, there was no investigation because it was assumed that the Somali was a minor.
