On June 12, 2021, at around 3:00 a.m., two people had an initially verbal altercation in the Rittershausstraße area of Westpark. During the course of the argument, one of the participants pulled out a firearm and fired at least one shot at his adversary, a 21-year-old Pole resident in Dortmund.
He was hit in the abdominal cavity. Despite emergency medical care, the victim died in hospital. Investigations led to the suspicion that a 21-year-old German man had committed the crime. He was found in the vicinity of his residence and temporarily arrested. The investigation is continuing. Witnesses to the crime are asked to contact the criminal investigation department by calling 0231 – 132 7441. Information can only be given by the public prosecutor’s office in Dortmund.
