Germany: Refugee shouting “Allahu Akbar” threatened to slaughter child

The Eritrean Ismail S. (26) is well-known to the police. In March 2018, he had already sexually harassed a woman in Neustadt, hitting her in the face with a beer bottle. His victim lost a tooth. He received eight months suspended prison sentence. And fines for theft, fare evasion and drug possession were also added.

Now the Dresden public prosecutor’s office has again brought charges against the tolerated asylum seeker for dangerous bodily harm and threatening behaviour after an alleged knife attack.

Specifically, the Eritrean is alleged to have first said “I’m going to kill you!” to a child in a car park at the Gorbitz Centre in Dresden at around 9.15 pm on June 28. At the same time, he allegedly made a gesture “as if he were cutting a victim’s throat”, according to senior public prosecutor Jürgen Schmidt (46).

When two Iraqis (26, 45) then approached S., he allegedly “called on the two Iraqis to fight and threatened that he would kill and slaughter them”, Schmidt continued.

In the end, Ismail S. allegedly kicked the younger Iraqi, pulled out a knife and injured his left leg.

Initially, the public prosecutor’s office had reported that S. had also shouted “Allahu Akbar” and had a machete (26 cm) and a knife (13 cm) with him.

Since the incident, S. has been in custody.
