A video from Pirna in Saxony has gone viral on the net: it shows a battle of words between a protestor at the Corona rally and a police officer. The officer accuses the demonstrator of killing other people. Irritated, the latter asks: “I kill other people?” The policeman repeats his accusation and says, “Yes exactly, that’s what it looks like, indirectly yes.” And finally, “You are an indirect murderer because you are infecting other people here.”
The policeman finally asks the demonstrator several times about his vaccination status, finally the latter questions in return: “Am I a murderer or am I not?”The policeman replies, “Yes exactly, because you are not vaccinated.” The demonstrator wants to press charges.
Later, the officer told the demonstrator: “You have lost all your humanity”, and: “You are no longer a human being”. When the demonstrator asks if the policeman thinks he is cattle, the officer replies: “Yes, I don’t know, in any case you are not a human being.
TE magazine asked the Dresden police department responsible. They explained that they regarded the officer’s statements “basically as a personal expression of opinion”. This would not be the opinion of the directorate, and they would have wished for different behaviour – nevertheless, they clearly stated: “In this respect, no consequences under service law are currently being considered.
The statements are not just insulting: when asked by TE whether this denial of a citizen’s human dignity does not openly violate a civil servant’s legal duty to support the constitutional order of freedom and democracy in all his behaviour, the police headquarters did not comment.
