A group of young people in Mettmann caused some blatant rioting! The group insulted passers-by and cyclists, attacked and injured them to such an extent that two young adults (18, 19) ended up in hospital.
According to the police, the incidents took place on Wednesday evening between 8.45 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the area of Schulstraße and the street Am Königshof in Mettmann.
According to the statement, the five apparently drunk teenagers had started insulting arguments with uninvolved passers-by for no reason at all.
“In the process, they even provoked a deliberate collision with an as yet unknown cyclist, who even fell as a result,” a spokesperson for the police reported.
Accompanied by a female cyclist who had also been verbally attacked by the group, the cyclist who had fallen quickly left the scene to avoid further provocations, insults and attacks.
In the meantime, the youths directed their abuse at other passers-by and suddenly attacked two 18 and 19 year old men from Mettmann.
The perpetrators beat the duo for no reason at all and finally snatched a necklace and a breast pocket with identity cards, cash and headphones from the 18-year-old. They then fled on foot in the direction of Jubiläumsplatz square.
“The two […] men from Mettmann were so seriously injured by the unknown persons that they had to be taken to a local hospital by ambulance for medical treatment,” the spokesperson said.
Police are searching for the brutal troublemakers and have issued a description of the youths:

black, mainly curly hair
all dressed in dark clothing, some wearing jogging trousers and black T-shirts.
According to the officers, two offenders in particular stood out from the group. Based on their appearance, they could be twins, who were wearing baseball caps at the time of the crime and had their hair tied up in a bun at the back of their heads.
One of the alleged brothers had also taken off his T-shirt during the attacks, revealing an upper body covered in scars. In addition, the youth had a tattoo on his left chest: a hemp leaf, according to reports.
