Germany: Magistrate lets Syrian ATM bombers on the loose because they have a permanent address

They are bizarre scenes. Passers-by look irritated as two young men in overalls casually stroll along the pedestrian zone of Springe (Hanover region) on Saturday afternoon.

Public health department? CID? Workmen? Wrong. They are the two gangsters who tried to blow up the ATM of a bank branch in the Eldagsen district last Friday. Now they are sitting on the street, in need of new clothes and shoes…

Two ATM bombers on a shopping spree!

After a spectacular chase with patrol cars and helicopters, the police were able to catch the two Syrians Ahmed L. (20) from Aschaffenburg and Rami A. (21) from Northeim in fields on the highway L461. During their escape, they had previously driven their Chevrolet Epica into a ditch. The investigators discovered explosive material in the car.

The police are investigating whether the duo is also responsible for the six other ATM burglaries in the Hanover area since mid-June. Damage: several tens of thousands of euros.

On Saturday, the suspects were brought before the district court in Springe. After about an hour, the big surprise: no custody. The magistrate released the men! Reason: they have a permanent residence.

Ahmed L. and Rami A. were sitting in the street wearing only pants, a T-shirt and socks under their protective suits. The rest of their clothes had been seized by the police for evidence. Marcin Raminski, L.’s lawyer, equipped them both: “They were penniless. They can’t go home like this. An inhumane state of affairs.”

The lawyer also gave them money for the journey home….
