Germany: Group of Turks stab 22-year-old in front of girlfriend

A 22-year-old man was injured with a knife after an argument at the water tower in Mannheim.

The young man was with a girlfriend in the city centre on Saturday night when a group with several men approached, according to police on Saturday.

After some provocation, fisticuffs ensued, in the course of which the 22-year-old was injured with a knife.

Witnesses came to the aid of the young man, who was taken to a clinic and underwent surgery. According to the police’s initial findings, he was seriously injured.

The group fled in the direction of the railway station. One of the men is said to have suffered a bleeding wound.

The officers searched for the group with more than ten police cars, without success.

The men are described as follows:

1st offender: about 20 to 23 years old, about 1.80 metres tall, normal build, short dark hair, black T-shirt, probably of Turkish origin.
2nd offender: 20 to 23 years old, about 1.80 metres tall, short dark hair, red T-shirt with a Turkish flag on the chest, bleeding injury on the right hand.

No description of the other suspect is available yet. The Mannheim Criminal Investigation Department has taken over further investigations. The police are now looking for further witnesses.
