The alleged perpetrator had come to Germany in 2015. He had been resident in the refugee facility since the beginning of 2018. The senior public prosecutor in charge of the case says”: It is possible that he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the crime.”
The Afghan is said to have fled after the knife attack. In the course of the search, during which a helicopter was also deployed, the man was finally located in a field and arrested without resistance. There are still many unanswered questions about the motive and the course of events. According to the newspaper “Bild”, witnesses reported that the attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar” before committing the crime.
