German public broadcaster explains in Arabic how Muslim migrants can get their second wife from abroad

With its programme “WDRforyou”, the public broadcaster WDR in Cologne provides information in four languages on a variety of topics and also places a special focus on the migrant community in Germany. Most recently, the question “How do I bring my second wife to Germany?” was also addressed using a practical success story.

Not only acute questions such as obtaining work permits or residence permits in Germany, but also a very different highly important topic has now been addressed by WDR Cologne – namely: How do you get your second wife to Germany? The situation is explained in Arabic and German in the programme with the German-Iranian presenter Isabel Schayania, so that everyone is sure to understand.

Using the example of a Syrian man, it is actually quite simple: The man entered Germany with his wife and four children and was granted asylum. However, this wife was not the mother of his children – she was still in Syria. In order to reunite them with their offspring, they applied for family reunification. This was finally granted.

In many cases, especially in areas such as Berlin or the Ruhr region – the home of WDR – these second wives as single parents receive rent, operating costs and social welfare from the German state; the husband does not incur any additional costs.

WDR is the largest broadcaster of the German public broadcaster ARD and the second largest broadcaster in Europe.
