France: Muslim brags on Tik Tok about cutting a prison guard’s throat

“Every morning I have to sign here because I cut a warden’s throat in prison. I’m proud of myself for cutting a warden’s throat in prison,” bragged 28-year-old Saber on the social network TikTok on December 6th in front of the police station in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). But a few days later, in court, the young man acts less smart, reports the newspaper “La Provence”. On Thursday December 16th, after his arrest, the amateur videographer will be brought before the court on an immediate summons for glorifying terrorism.

Saber tries to pretend to be dumb. “I talk to myself, I say words …”, he explains. His explanations do not seem to convince the judges, not even his own lawyer. In fact, the psychiatric report found only a slight mental impairment. His criminal past, on the other hand, is anything but inoffensive: fifteen records in his criminal record, most of them for theft. One for glorifying terrorism, as the defendant had the good idea to call the police shortly after the 2015 attacks and tell them what he would think of the attacks. Result: Saber is sentenced to eight months in prison, six of them suspended, with a committal order.
