Ten years after the attacks committed by Mohamed Merah in Toulouse, which killed seven people and foreshadowed the wave of attacks that followed, France is still threatened by “Islamism”, according to Jordan Bardella, interviewed by France Inter on Sunday March 20.

The acting leader of the Rassemblement National believes that “our enemy is Islamism”. “What threatens France today is Islamism. Islamism killed in the Hyper Cacher, at Charlie Hebdo and the Jewish children in the Ozar Hatorah school. Islamism is causing many of our fellow Jews to be forced to leave Seine-Saint-Denis to flee a mass immigration that expresses a willingness to use violence against them. The concern is the rise of Islamism,” he said.

In light of this phenomenon, the MEP denounced the head of state’s performance during his five years in office. “Emmanuel Macron’s record in this area is to be faulted. He has had a trembling hand in the face of Islamism,” he said.

The Île-de-France regional council accused the LREM presidential candidate of failing to act in the face of the rise of this ” threat “. “There are 4,500 foreign individuals registered for radicalisation. The President of the Republic has not deported them. There are 540 radical mosques that have still not been closed. Dozens of Islamist associations that have refused to sign the Charter of Secularism have still not been dissolved,” he stressed, adding that “places of worship identified as practising radical Islam are still funded with public money, especially the great mosque in Strasbourg.”
