France: Islamic scholar and Islamist Tariq Ramadan is probably behind the theft of personal data of his opponents from the computer police file

He estimates that he made 30,000 euros. The former DGSI agent “Haurus”, who sold confidential information from police files on the Darknet, was sentenced to five years in prison on Friday by the Court of Appeal in Versailles (Yvelines).

In both trials, the police officer, who was prosecuted on a dozen charges, had regretted his mistakes and admitted most of the crimes he was accused of.

Did Tariq Ramadan’s entourage try to obtain personal information about one of his alleged victims? The Islamic scholar is to be summoned before the criminal court on June 24 because he revealed the identity of P-E A., known by the alias “Christelle”, 84 times in his last book. The latter accuses him of sexually abusing her in 2009 in a hotel in Lyon in the run-up to a lecture by the Swiss preacher. Tariq Ramadan is still under investigation for these alleged crimes.

Now we can reveal that in early March 2018, enquiries into the 40-year-old’s identity were commissioned on the Darknet, the hidden side of the internet. A log dated September 11, 2018, which we have been able to inspect, shows that “Haurus”, an intelligence police officer who had fallen out of favour for selling sensitive information, carried out a series of searches in police files to identify P-E A. This was done at the request of a mysterious internet user. The agent has since been charged for this undercover business, which he ran alongside his counter-terrorism activities. So were some of his clients with very different profiles: Private detective, counterfeiter, gangster from Marseille…

On that day, “Bidule 7575” told the corrupt police officer that his major clients were willing to pay money to find out who the plaintiff against Tariq Ramadan named “Christelle” was. The 40-year-old had spilled the beans in the media under this alias. The middleman demands her identification as well as elements from her private life. No problem for Haurus, since as a judicial investigator he has access to numerous police files.

He then carries out a ” search ” to get to P-E A. On March 7, at 8:53 a.m., he first types the name Tariq Ramadan into the police file “Cristina”, which is for the domestic intelligence service. Then, at 9:05 a.m., he calls up the “Traitement d’antécédents judiciaires” (Taj), which lists the accused in criminal cases. On Tariq Ramadan’s index card, which summarises the proceedings on the basis of which he was charged, are the names of his two alleged victims: Henda Ayari, the first to file a complaint against the Islamic scholar and whose name is publicly known, and another named P-E A. Consequently, it can only be Christelle.

Once Haurus has obtained the name, he consults the mega-identity file TES (titres électroniques sécurisés), which contains citizens’ personal data. The agent has access to the applicant’s passport, but also to “all the documents presented to the administration to obtain the identity card”, as the protocol states: EDF bill, photo, copy of the identity card, but also CERFA form with parentage, address, telephone number, email… That same evening, Haurus informs “Bidule 7575” that he has retrieved the valuable information. However, the middleman delayed payment for the goods, which was to be paid “before delivery”. He obviously has difficulties getting paid by his customers.  Le Parisien
