A woman was killed with a knife in her home in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis) on Saturday morning and her husband arrested, judicial and police sources told AFP. “The man of Algerian origin killed his wife with a knife. Four children have been taken into care,” the Bobigny prosecutor’s office said. The children, the eldest of whom is 14, were present in the flat at the time of the tragedy, which occurred shortly after 7am.
According to a police spokesperson, the man cut his wife’s throat in front of the children before calling the police himself, who arrested him. “The first findings we have obtained show that this couple was not particularly suspicious,” added another police source. The investigation was handed over to the Seine-Saint-Denis criminal investigation department.
The husband allegedly tried to dismember the body of the victim, according to one of the sources. She had a deep wound on one arm, in addition to the wound on her neck. The suspected murderer was arrested and taken into custody. An autopsy will be conducted.
The four children were treated by the emergency services and taken to hospital. An investigation was opened and the criminal investigation department of Seine-Saint-Denis (SDPJ 93) was put in charge. The perpetrator has allegedly not been known to the police so far.
