Several men were injured in a violent confrontation between two groups of migrants in the Vienna district of Neustadt. Shots were also fired. Train traffic was stopped for a short time.
On Epiphany Day, the state police were called to the train station. Two groups of ten migrants each had gotten into a fight. Three people were injured, one of them seriously. According to the police, several shots were fired. Knives were also used. The incident escalated to such an extent that train traffic had to be stopped.
The suspects (according to newspaper “NÖN” Syrians, Chechens and others) ran away in all directions. However, the officers were able to catch up with several men and arrest them.
According to the police, the situation was quickly under control, neither officers nor other passers-by were endangered by the two groups. The arrested men are currently being questioned and surveillance videos are being analysed.
