A terrible crime took place in the northern Innviertel, in a block of flats directly in the district town of Schärding. There, an Afghan (16) allegedly lured the seven-year-old daughter of a neighbour into the cellar and raped her there.When the girl’s father tried to intervene to protect his daughter, the Afghan attacked him.
According to the newspaper “Oberösterreichische Nachrichten”, the terrible ordeal took place on Saturday. When the father wondered where his daughter was, her little sister explained that the 7-year-old had previously gone down to the basement with the Afghan. The man already suspected something evil: he rushed to the basement where his daughter and the suspected child molester were still staying.
Although he fortunately did not witness any abuse, he immediately confronted the immigrant. The situation escalated and a scuffle ensued. In the course of the scuffle, the girl’s father fell so badly that he lost consciousness when he hit the ground. The man was taken to the hospital in Schärding, the suspect is in custody at the request of the public prosecutor’s office in Ried.
There, the Afghan apparently already confessed to having committed the disgusting crime. The investigations are going in the direction of aggravated sexual abuse. In case of a conviction, the alleged child molester faces a prison sentence of up to five years. However, due to his own allegedly underage age, he could get off with a lenient sentence.By comparison, an adult could even face up to ten years in prison for such a gruesome crime, but courts are often more lenient in their sentences.
What is also explosive about the shocking case is that so far only the newspaper Österreichische Nachrichten (OÖN) has mentioned – albeit hidden in the running text – that the suspect has a migration background; the majority of the newspapers have remained completely silent about this. The “Krone” belittlingly referred to the accused as a “neighbouring boy”. “Salzburg24 and the Vorarlberger Nachrichten called him a “teenager”. The “Kurier” also calls him a “lad”, emphasising the Afghan’s friendly relationship with his family.
