A young German, now arrested by special forces of the State Criminal Police Office of Baden-Württemberg and the Kehl police, is said to have prepared an Islamist-motivated attack in Germany. The 21-year-old was already arrested on Thursday when he entered Germany from France, as the police have now reported.
He had wanted to buy a fully automatic assault rifle in Germany and could be linked to the radical Islamist spectrum, according to the current state of the investigation.
The 21-year-old (resident in France) is also alleged to have obtained and passed on instructions on how to build explosive and incendiary devices – to whom is unclear. Several mobile phones as well as cash, which was obviously intended for the purchase of weapons, were seized from him by the officers. There are currently no indications of a specific target. The suspect’s flat in France was searched.
