A man triggered a major police operation in the Bremen district of Mitte on Tuesday. The 28-year-old threatened to blow up a tram.
The passenger was in the tram and shouted “Allahu Akbar, everything is blowing up here”. He got off at the Domsheide stop and walked towards the city centre. Several people then alerted the police.
The police were able to arrest the suspect and the tram was searched for possible explosive devices. Since a mental illness was suspected, the 28-year-old was taken to a specialised clinic. Further investigations into disturbing the public peace by threatening to commit a crime are ongoing.
